Since listing it for sale I've developed a case of sellers remorse and have decided to pull it off the market. I simply love her too much to part with her at this time.

Please check back at For Sale - 1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser 'Uglina' regularly because I reserve the right to change my mind again :-).

You get a "Thatta Boy" for that one! I have sold one 40 (only because I had my current one available to me) and still regret it some 20 years later. You have possibly the finest looking mustard 40 rolling, enjoy her into your later years!

X2 on the "Thatta Boy"!

Best Cruiser I've seen in any color, but the yellow is awesome. Don't let it go unless you absolutely have to, that is a dream rig to many including myself.

Thank goodness you've come to your senses. Since my first days on this forum I have loved your cruiser and hoped to see it one day around town or on the ferry. I have a picture of your rig that I alternate as a desktop to inspire me as to what my '77 could look like. Beautiful cruiser.
X2 on the good decision!

I couldn't put that level of work into something and then sell it.

Over here, Toyota New Zealand recently "remanufactured" an FJ40 and gave it away as a prize to mark "60 years of landcruisers in NZ".

Win a classic FJ40

As you can see, it is a mustard yellow one too.

The person who won this one has been trying to sell it ever since and for far more money than what you were asking. ($40,000NZ as I recall.)

In my opinion yours is FAR better because Toyota NZ really did only a cosmetic job and had none of the attention-to-detail that you've shown in your rebuild.

Hand it down as a family heirloom and never sell it!

You can only have so many family heirlooms. The 911 is already the car I'll never sell. And I did it with Uglina, so I know I can do it with something else (like an old Benz or something... I have a long list of cars I want).

That said, the nice weather in Seattle really made me realize how much I was looking forward to taking the top off this summer. Maybe I'll sell it in the fall.

I'm loving the teq steering wheel center piece. Where did you come across that. I don't think I 've ever seen on ebefore.

Good for you! I recognized it in a parking garage a couple of weeks ago and got to see it up close. It is really spectacular rig.

Uglina for sale

I agree with those that asked that you never sell her. It is the nicest restoration I have seen/ read about. Besides, why don't you just let your son drive it? My brother did this for his son, a Mustard '79, and he has to beat the girls off him with a stick!
Best of luck with whatever you decide!

It it just a sticker. I think I bought it here on Mud.

Glad you could see her. But I'm still likely to sell. Just not sure when :-)

The biggest problem with my son driving it is his size 15 feet and 6' 2" frame. He can hardly use the clutch! And my wife doesn't like the safety factor, which I tend to agree with.

I dug the video, thanks for posting that. Your cruiser rides so smooth!

Whether you sell or not I have thoroughly enjoyed your build thread - quite inspirational!

Cheers.

(Don't give me crap about regretting selling her. I know I will regret it. But that is life sometimes. It is time to move on to something different).

I'm assuming if outside paint was done by CCOT they must have also done some body work at some point? Got any pictures of those rust bubble areas up close? Do you think the rear quarters, etc. are CCOT replacements?

Thanks
