Great job. I've been right in the middle of the same mustard color struggle, must be a common problem.

Looks great as always! Since you already have the FJ40 license plate bracket that includes the license plate lights, I would just clean it up and go with it! It'll look better and look like it belongs there! What did you have in mind for the Porsche style bracket as far as lighting is concerned? And why did you like it better?

But then I was detailing my 911 and took the rear license plate off to clean behind it...

... and thought, man that would be so much easier!

So now I'm looking for one of these. New they are about $45, but I see at least one on eBay for $17.
Only problem there is no provisioning for the lights, I know at least here you will fail inspection w/o license plate lights ;)

No inspections for me in WA.

Looks like all you need to do now is spray some undercoat under your front fenders (rear too?) and your ride will be picture-perfect. Maybe a few buckets of rhino liner?

Problem is I don't like the look of non-body colored coatings under there. And if I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it right. That means taking them off. And doing the rear fenders too. While I'm at it, the underside of the hood, the front bib, and parts of the inside of the tub need touching up to. Oh, and the seat frames need painting (never mind the new seat covers I have from AATLASX I haven't installed yet).

Ergo, frame off.

Maybe someday. But for now I'll just enjoy it with a "little" patina. ;)

Air cleaner fittings

Mr Shane (AATLASX) has provided me with a "new" air cleaner assembly.

I finally set about installing it today.

It fits (Shane, you were right!).

However, it is missing two nipples that my old one had.

What should I do with these vacuum tubes? One comes off the disty and the other to what I think is the high-altitude sensor (near the PCV valve) on the same side of the engine as the disty. Here:

In the end, I used my old upper and the new lower.

The 'old' upper is not actually in that bad of shape. The old lower was a rusty POS, so AATLASX's new one makes the whole thing look nice.

Nice compromise. You definitely want those ports hooked up.

I really like the color of you Cruiser, it not the original mustard is it? Do you have the paint mix numbers to reproduce it? I couldn't find it in your build.

Start reading about here:

And you'll get the whole story...

Or you can just buy her. I'm selling.

Okay, I got it, you mixed the OEM Mustard yellow with a color match to the CCOT paint. Sounds like it took some work, but came out good. CCOT doesn't have the color code for that paint?

I am sorry to hear you are selling. I've been watching this forum for a while and your Cruiser is really the end result of what I'm after. It's the kind of restoration I would like to do myself. I'm in the process of purchasing a 75 mustard yellow and it will need a repaint after I fix some surface rust.

Any chance you could PM me some details on dollar amounts you have into it and selling price? Trying to gauge my plans for mine.

What?!?!?! Say it isn't so!

Yea, Uglina was never a destination, but a path.

She's basically 'done' so I'd like someone else to enjoy her.

Plus, I now have 2 kids driving and we need to change up the car situation.

I'll be posting an ad soon, but if anyone wants to make me an offer I'm all ears...

Uglina is now officially FOR SALE

FOR SALE! FOR SALE! FOR SALE!

As much as it saddens me, having two teenage drivers who are now driving is forcing me to make a change in my car situation.

Thus I am selling Uglina.

I'm not so eager to sell that I'm willing to negotiate or put it on eBay. Yes, I know I am asking a premium price. But I think she's worth it and I know there's someone out there who will agree.

If you want to check out the details go to the website I've created with all the details:

I want to thank everyone here on Mud who has helped me out over the past 6 years. It has been a incredibly fun and rewarding journey and you all are class acts. Someday I'll be back...

For your viewing pleasure, I've created a quick video walk around of Uglina. In it you can see how well she starts cold and purrs like a kitten. It also shows the engine, under side, and interior. Be prepared to be blown away by the amazing production value of this video.
