I think it looks perfect with the stock front bumper...so if you are going to change it, don't misplace the original one :)

Oh, and, if you already used POR15, cool, if not, as a personal preference, I would simply use paint :)

your beautiful work always reminds me Im just a half-a**er at the end of the day I really need to step it up

I'm a hack who rushes and always has to re-do things. But I appreciate the sentiment.

The OEM bumper isn't going anywhere. It's only 6 bolts. The real job is fixing the paint on the frame.

Nice... it was worth the effort to get the color right. Finished product looks great.

Thanks. I'm glad I took the time to re-do it. It's too bad that the paint that's left is all I'll ever have... getting an exact match will always be a struggle. I figure there's enough in the can to paint 1/2 the rig, so if I ever do a frame off (which is something I'd like to do just for the fun of it) I'll probably just go with another color or OEM mustard.

I'm also pretty happy with the finish. It's pretty shiny with a bit of small orange peel. I'm betting if I took my polisher to it I'd get it pretty smooth. There IS a ton of paint on there since it was rattle can. I'll wait a few weeks before doing it though.

Looks great! You should get another OEM rear license plate bracket and mount it to your tailgate so you don't lose your license plate when the zip ties break off! Great work!

Thanks.

I've been trying to find something that I like. The OEM rear lighted bracket might work mounted to my tailgate plate. I could even wire up the lights.

But I was hoping to find something simpler. Any ideas anyone?

Got the front frame rail/bumper mounts painted this morning. Cam out looking really good. The paint is a bit wet still so it looks glossy, but it has dried to a nice matte with just a slight shine. Love it.

Primer over the POR15:

looks like you need to get you another tow hook for the passenger side. I think that was mentioned already at least once in this thread ;)

Yea, I've been waiting to do that until after I decide on the bumper. If I have a bumper with shackles I don't need 2 hooks.

What paint did you use for the frame rails? Got a pic of the can? Think of doing the same...

I actually found a used rear license plate bracket. I was going to clean it up and paint it.

But then I was detailing my 911 and took the rear license plate off to clean behind it...

... and thought, man that would be so much easier!

So now I'm looking for one of these. New they are about $45, but I see at least one on eBay for $17.

Anyone want to buy the use FJ frame I bought?

If I had a newer cruiser, I would buy it, but, that said, I would go with your first thoughts...clean it up, paint it, and put it on that tail gate...you'll be happy you did once she is on

It's decided: The OEM bumper stays (until/if I get a winch). It's back on:

And I've finally gotten a 2nd tow hook.

Don't tell anyone, but the one tow hook that was there had one bolt that was always loose. The other day I broke it trying to finally tighten it. Today trying to get the other bolt off, I discovered it was cross threaded too so used my die grinder to cut it. I don't think I put that tow hook on way back, but if I did someone needs to whack me across the knuckles with a 19mm wrench.

But all's well that ends well.

Now Uglina is balanced.
