There is a 78 in basicly stock condition about 2 miles from you. I stopped and talked to the guy last week. It is near my mom-in-laws house on SE 7th st.

Any contact info? What cross street on SE 7th?

I'll stop and see about contact info.

I believe it still had the OE carb. He has various body pieces pulled now

(Im)Patiently waiting for my carb to be finished by FJ40Jim. It's been 12+ weeks since I sent it and I have not heard a peep from him...even after several emails. He originally said it would take 5 weeks.

Sigh.

Anyway, my sister is in town for the weekend and she wanted to drive it so we piled in a drove around a bit. I drive it pretty regularly, but it's always a treat to share with others.

Still gotta get off my butt and paint the doors. Between waiting for the carb and being focused on my Porsche this summer (thread here) it just hasn't been a priority.

Egads, has it really been over a year since I last posted...

I go the carb back from Jim sometime last winter and it's still sitting on my workbench. Just not enough time or motivation to install it myself yet...

But I've been driving the rig regularly all summer (the top has been off for 2 years). It still drives great and is always a pleasure. It rarely goes off-road, but I knew that going in.

Yesterday I put the roof back on using a roof kit I bought from SOR way back. And today I finished doing a deep clean/detail of the rig. It looks great. I'm going to try to get some good pictures of it this afternoon to post. The roof has not been on since I got it back on the road after putting the new suspension on etc... It's like a completely different rig with it on.

Yea, it's a total bitch. I figure it'll be easier after doing it once though.

I know it's done, but did you use Vaseline? It really does help to get it to move around.

Still need that gas tank inspection hole cover?

I popped out to Preston this morning to pick up my wheels from the powder coater. They turned out absolutely fantastic! I am sooo pleased with the quality of the finish and the color!

The wheels were purchased through cdan at American Toyota. They came to me "primered"...as it turns out the primer Toyota uses is actually powder coat. So they did not need to be blasted before I had them powder coated.

It was tough picking a grey, but I eventually settled on RAL 7040 by Tiger Drylac.

These were done by Powdervision, Inc. in Preston, WA (Powder Vision Inc. - Preston, WA- Welcome to Powder Vision Inc. - Preston, WA - Powder Coating & Sandblasting Services) who also provides sand blasting services. J.R. Still is the owner and he's great to work with and obviously does high quality stuff.

Wow, I forgot about this thread!

Thanks for posting the RAL number for powder coat! I like that color!

WOW.. It has been a while since I viewed this thread. I sure am glad that I subscribed to it, so that I got the notification, or I would have forgotten it. What a pristine looking rig.!!!! I will have to go back down memory lane and scan the whole thread again. Thanks for posting this.

My longest pole right now is my PS pump. I can't find a replacement because I can't figure out what model & year the one I have came from. The bracket is custom, apparently fabricated by CCOT when they restored this rig in '94.

I will buy a Sliver Star for the first person to correctly identify the model and year of this PS pump.

To win I have to be able to source a replacement based on the information you give me.

Pictures of the pump and bracket below.

Did we ever find out what the PS pump was off of?

Are you missing a tow hook on the front frame rail? Such a beautiful truck...amazing.
