Can cold weather make your starter hang up? Getting lots of click......

Has snowmageddon hit the Upstate yet? It's nucking futz here in ATL. Everybody left work early cause the streets are starting to freeze and now they're all bumper to bumper.

I think I'm going to wait a little while before leaving the office.

Three hours to go four miles. Pushed a few in that time, but just nuts. Kids stuck at school for the night, cars abandoned everywhere, some of the dumbest driving I've ever seen. What a show!

My wife and I spent 8 hours on the road each to go to all the schools and get the kids....that was insane! Upside...the new BMW is pretty good in the snow for a RWD

My 45 minute ride took 2.5 hrs. Hwy 25 and 86 are a nightmare. Hwy 8 was a breeze. Almost bought me a street sign but other than that no problems. 4wd took the fun out of it. Had one opportunity to pull someone up a hill but they digressed after the "i ain't paying for it if it breaks" speech. Wasn't even there car.

I've got business in ATL this week. Left Knoxville this morning for a three hour drive. It's now 1230 am and I'm 12 hours late for my meeting. I'm still on 75. The last four miles have taken nearly seven hours.

Linda and I ended up helping people up the hill in front of our SD until 1:00 when it finally cleared up. Some very scared people out there. One lady, at 10:00 was still trying to get to the daycare to pick up her kid... 7hrs late. Just about as crazy a night as I've seen.

I'm waiting to hear about the lawsuits that will come of the school districts canceling the bus routes and keeping the kids over night at school. I'm sure it was the safest option but pure idiocy of the district to not cancel school all together for the day is what will probably get them in trouble. I guess the school district doesn't pay attention to the weather channel.

No one can blame anyone else for stuff like this. The weather channel said all of this was going to stay south of Atlanta. By the time they realized schools needed to close, everyone else closed too and the mass exit caused the gridlock.

We got a couple inches here which turned to ice on the roads right away. We have a long hill from a lake up to our road at the top of the hill. Heather said she drove past at least a dozen vehicles coming up the hill. 1995 stock 80 with BFG ATs. There is an early 80s Ford 4WD with a round bail in back for weight that has been pulling vehicles up the hill for hours now, he is making some money!!

The shop this morning

I spent about 20 hours helping. I stopped pulling people out at 12 am last night since they kept driving right back in.

Steen, Dan and Rick, it would be interesting to know your thoughts on the whos's-to-blame conversation since you live here. As a visitor, I don't really see how "they" could have prepared for what happened considering how quickly the storm changed and everyone getting on the roads at the same time. Julia said we got 6" in Knoxville and the 11pm news Monday night we weren't expecting anything to stick if we saw flakes at all. And all reports I heard about ATL said the storm would stay south. That's the only reason we didn't cancel our meeting. And we certainly would have had we had any reason to believe it would be like this.
