New FJ40 Owner in Asheville

I sold the 74 to a buddy of mine (hopefully still even after the buy) who lives in Asheville. He was offered more for it than I sold it to him for on the haul home. Told him to take it! He's new to Cruisers and is looking for guidnace from the experts. He's already been on here and I told him to post up ASAP. Officially Cruiserless now but looking for a 62 or older 80 - something I can get five people in.Dan

talk to johnlee about his... He is pining for a 40.

I'll sell ya my 62.

geez all these wagon owners abandoning ship!!

Why don't y'all just have a swap. Just swap vehicles and when you get tired of them you swap back. Do it with the argeement that you wiil be responsible for basic maint and if something big happens you swap back.

just got a copy of the avengers. Anyone seen it yet?

Cruiser Swap

Now that's an idea! one year rotations. Or we could do like the boat buy in rackets on the coast. Everyone pays into a membership. We keep a fleet of all types locked up somewhere and when you get the notion to hit the trails or go for a ride, you call up and reserve your ride for the day. Membership fee pays for the maintenance, etc. This idea coming from the guy who's cruiserless now!!!

Cruiser timeshare

Sounds good ,but the part about swap back when something big happens. So roll the swapped rig set it on fire and swap back. great! I always did want to trash someone else's stuff. But with my luck my rig will be the one where something big happened !!

the only time i want to trade/time share my 40 for a 62/80 would be on road trips

the 40 at 65 will stress me out if the trip is too long...granted I can steer with 1 hand at hwy speeds...but if i have to slam on the brakes or make a high speed swerve....i'm done for!

with the front bench seat and two long jump seats...I fit 7 passengers on a regular basis...with a 17ft bass/ski boat with a merc 150 in tow!

3 of those 7 passengers are in car seats!

just make sure you got a good looking lady riding in the middle of the front bench...don't wanna be shifting gears between the legs of a dude!!

i tried to hit up a fishing spot last night in piedmont that i used to hit up with friends on a weekly basis back in the day.

Drove all the way down there (nice 4x4 trail down for SWB vehicles) and as soon as i get to the little pond there are posted signs everywhere!!!

So i had to turn around...keep in mind that everything is muddy as all get out from all the rain....and had to put it in 4wd to crawl back up the hill to leave.

so then i went to the other side of piedmont to fish in the river. The river is up and it's a soupy mess to get to the good spots along the river bank...i see plenty of stout trees along the way incase the holes are deeper than anticipated.

put her in 4wd just to be on the safe side....puttered at idle all the way around the bank to the spot i wanted to get to without spinning a tire.

didn't get more than a few bites but got the 40 covered in mud from the little trails...was a good evening!
