166k miles on a Toyota diff is young in my opinion.

U-Joints are a really good cheap/easy first place to start, however, I would only consider if the vibe you're talking about is a straight line on throttle/off throttle repeatable event. If what you are experiencing is somehow manifest in left/right steering I would rule out U-joints.

I can NOT get things to repeat with left-right, which has lead me to rune out wheel bearings.
The vibes are always at highway speeds. On or off throttle doesn't matter.
The grumble comes and goes, but is noticeable at lower speeds (25mph or less) typically off throttle is when I notice it, but it HAS been there while on throttle.

If you can hear a rumble at something slow like 25 mph wheel bearings are the first place I would look. Should be louder/more noticeable when hot.

X2

I would bet the "chirping" is a u-joint.
Could be the vibration, also, but it usually shows up around 40-45 mph. 55 to 60 is usually a tire balance problem.

Mung-def- from Stanapedia: The nasty black/brown crud found under a vehicle that consists of oil, dirt and general road grime baked on by years off heating and cooling.

Once the Mung is removed these parts actually look good......

If you have ever done any kind of body work this will put a smile on your face.

All shiny, part of me just wants to clear it and be done.

I did actually turn a wrench here.....

Used the 3/4" socket to remove the spare from the mtbcoach carrier and asked the boys at discount to throw the best tire back in the truck for a spare for now
