@alk747triodad Kenny, it just didn't feel right giving you a hook covered in dirt and rust so I did a little cleaning:

And then it needed some protection so primed it:

While the primer was drying I dug through the bolts bin and found some bolts to secure with and then gave it a subtle top coat. :grinpimp:

See you Thursday, man.

Also .... final chapter of the winch/recovery point install.

I had some "I doubt I will ever use these" motor mounts that seemed to fit just right so burned them into place.

picked up some grounding wire from my local welding store and made up a new set of cables.

Drilled one more hole in the bumper :hillbilly:

Installed the solenoid box on the driver side (opposite the winch motor) to make it easier to run the control from the driver seat ... i.e. can easily reach over the hood and in the window. Bolted it all up ....

Looking good Rice, great job!!

I noticed the multiple pieces of solder along with flux in this photo

I used to do it the same way, for years up until the last swap I did when the manager of the local auto store turned me on to solder slugs. They come in a bunch of different sizes and solder and flux all in one nice package. Extremely convenient

See you Thursday, man.

I don't know what to say! Thank you and I love the color.

I have 2 recovery points on the rear bumper so should meet code. ;) If I need winching it's gonna be at first ledge of Daniel, using your hook Rice. Thanks again...

Slugs really are the way to go except for the cost. It is certainly the way I would go if I was making cables more often. I will say, I was tempted, then started cutting solder. :)

You did what while you weren't helping me?

I did thos mod on john's truck while i own it. The rear heater pipes were gone and they are a bitch to get to them and replace them. So i eliminated the rear heater.
I have an 80 that my brother is using up in Boston. It is not a bad truck but has some rust and the rear heater pipe were gone too. So i got on face time and did the same to it. It counts as wrenching if you help. Doesnt it? Here is the hose the we found works.

Or this one. Either one work but personally this is better. He could not find it at the local auto zone.

Part II .... After cutting an opening in the bumper the clevis mount can slide into place.

And become permanent:

And poke just a little out the other side:

And here is where things are now:

Not much more to add. I'll detail some of the winch stuff later but non-winch ARB conversions are not really new, aside from a couple things I tossed in to beef up the strength a bit.
That is outstanding. Lots of work but darn good work. Very impressed. That is about what I will be doing with my Ironman front bumper. Same concept. Numerous thumbs up from me.

Hahaha. It is nice to be thank for showing up for 15 min and turn two bolts. Nice to see you guys.

Thanks to Eric F and Rafael for the manpower and motivation on Saturday. Finally ditched the old hitch and bumper for the 4x4 Labs unit.

That looks great. I like the tree-feeler on the driver side. Good thinking.

John, I see the nice bumper, but I spy with my little eye something sporty next to the bumper, front end of a German fast mover? Could be fiat too...

damn a spit has never looked like a Porsche to me but under that cover I can see it

@JohnVee I thought you had that thing sold? If you ever just get tired of looking at it and want it gone, just remember I have the love. We can drag it over to the Authorized Service garage (pronounced - gare'-ridge). How rusty is it anyway?

1974 Spitfire. I'm getting very antsy to have it gone. The current tentative buyer is an occasional employee of mine who's had MG's and Triumphs before. We're working on a trade.

The purchase of the 40 years ago depleted the Triumph resto fund and then it was always too hot or too cold to drive the thing. It was a blast, though. I admittedly have way too many ongoing projects and experiments for the amount of time I spend working. Oh, and I'm lazy, too.

Gotta love a British sports car designed by an Italian. The swooping fenders are what got me. Far cooler than an MG. Hijack off.

Hmmmmm, Vortec V-6, Mustang II front suspension and 4 link rear end and TOTAL RE WIRE would make for a cool Spitfire for sure :)

A busy day of trail riding and Kenny still found enough time for some wrenching.

Stevie Wonder called and says even he can find that hook!
