A new QB wont help you when your line is still soft you still cant run the ball and your best D lineman is turning pro early. Meanwhile we are only losing 4 starters from our 8-4 team. We also have 3 4-star qbs on our depth chart behind charlie, and the acc's best freshman rb. Come down for the game though and we shall see and enjoy a frosty

Ha ha. Seems that you are a bit forward in expressing your opinion of my football team. Why so?

But you certainly have us figured out. Our Oline is soft. However, our best Dlineman John McCargo according to some insiders is still on the team. I'm sure your team will experience growing pains post Charlie Whitehurst as we have post Philip Rivers. Good luck to that because it ain't fun. Now, are you going to relax a little and keep this a pleasant place to talk wheeling?

rudy means well; he is just a die hard Clemson fan...........with an overdose of testosterone and probaly the biggest smack talker this side of the Mississippi ;) . I am just glad I am a Clemson fan too :grinpimp:

I think he and Mr Bronco need to get a room.:D

Back on track.

I'm up for a scouting trip. Maybe we could just find a section of the trail that is accessible for those who don't want to screw there vehicles up. I see this being a logisticalm nightmare knowing our group. Bt with enough planning and scouting we could make this a really nice event.

hey marshall, little off topic here, but what kind gps maps do you have??? Like Nat. Geo. topos, or the Garmin 24K??? any of those............... I was looking at getting the east natl parks/forests coat 24K version it seems it covers much of western NC and some of N. Georgia and as far as I can find is the most detailed topos out there........ there are equilvalent I believe to the USGS 7.5 quadrangles

And yeah lets get the scouting trip for sometime early feb., I am going to need a few weeks before freezing my arse off again after MLK :grinpimp:

Of track again.. I'm running an Lowrance Lcx- 15 MT. Using MAPCREATE™ USA Topo 6.3 SOFTWARE
NOW WITH ELEVATION CONTOUR LINES. I have all the software and can put it on your computer if you want but you have to have a lowrance gps in order for it to work.

I've got a older set of garmin topos

After speaking with the guys at Outer Banks Outfitters when I bought a Garmin for the boat, I get the impression these trails will not show up on any of the purchased GPS chips. But, what do they know, they specialize in water maps :D . I'm curious what you guys think b/c I'd like to get a handheld for the truck.

Its ok raliegh I can probably make those comments for every team in the ACC I spend almost as much time reading that stuff as I do on ih8mud. Everyone has growing pains but were projected preseason top 15 in the country so all us tigers are feeling pretty good.

On topic I think this trip sounds pretty sweet and I want to go. I'd be up for helping scout depending when that date is set as well.

Thanks for the info guys, I am looking into the getting the 24K topo.... like I said it is for the most part the same detail as the USGS, which are fairly good maps I believe. I am not so much worried about find 4x4 roads/ slash trails as accurate and detailed topos for backpacking and mountain biking in the NC mountains..........just wanted to see if you had any experience with them before I shelled out a 100 bucks for them

back on subject I will get in touch with Alex (concrete) this weekned via PM and see if we can hash out a date so everyone has enough notice to plan on this trip...

Cool :D

Just out of curiosity, post up who will be interested in a scouting trip and what would be the best time for it (meaning beginning of Feb., end of Feb., beginning of march or end of march ect....)

raleigh I was reffering to Mario Williams easily the best d lineman projected 4th in the NFL draft.

I'm up for the scouting trip, and I would say after valentines day UC is pretty busy up til the weekend before and I doubt most of us will risk the vday weekend cruiser trip.

yeah no V-day, my girlfriend already believe she is #2 behind the cruiser and going wheeling on V-day would verify that and I would be without my cruiser chick

anyways, it is friday night and I am at home with my parents, bored to death, man am I ready for school again!! I found using the free USGS site in the outfitting section here on MUD the trails you were talking about Alex, and if these USGS maps are still accurate there are tons in the general area.............. so I am going to see if I can print them out on the plotter at my dads work monday that was I don't have to pay the 10 dollars per USGS 7.5 quad...........

anyways so there is lots of exploring to be done up there!!!

Yep, tons. When i used to have my dirtbike, we would take off and ride 70 miles of trails and never ride the same trail. The bad thing is that some of them we rode so fast i don't remember much of them like which fork to take.

Hey JP, if you are looking at the topo maps, follow hwy 107 south from WCU and then follow caney fork to moses creek up to rich mountain, then follow the ridgeline down to sugar creek ridge, then down to charlie knob. Then we come back out and catch hwy 281 down by wolf and bear lake back down to hwy 107.

Virgo I dont know how those little gps units work but can you dl the free state maps that are online from DNR? Because I got those maps of South Dakota free online this semester when I was doing my project, also got access to the ones for SC if I can still find the passcode.

side note: you still gonna try and burn sketch up for me?

it wish it was that easy, the garmin will only upload garmin software...... isn't that nice for them  so I have to buy their software

and I was wrong about sketch up, what we have is Squiggle....... sorry man

Do you think somewhere on the vast internet there is a converter which will allow you to take the free files and convert to a file garmin will read? I would bet someone has thought of it by now.

Thanks for the pics.
Looks like some good quality wheeling.
I am not into the extreme crawling or anything.

The pics you posted is what I love to do.
Exploring, and expeditions.
My backyard is full of that type of terrain.

I wish I was there with you guys.

Cheers,
Nick
