Sweet - thanks for the feedback. It looks like it but had to ask.

Do you happen to have a part # for that first gen Tundra canister?

A few updates, shined it up for a proper cruiser wedding. @Sargy tied the knot and couldn't be happier for ya buddy. Think we had a total of 8 100's at the wedding and cruiser heads from all over the country.

Picked up a set of wheelers off road rear bump stops from @Leroythe02LX gave them a quick clean and paint before tossing them in the truck. Excited to give them a try. If your into IPAs the halfcab hazy ipa from BIG TRUCK brewery is pretty good

Cheers 🍻

SHOP UPDATE:

a few weeks ago I got the over hang painted finally. I really wanted to get it painted before winter but time got away from me like normal. @DC470 brought over is sprayer which made quick work of it but man that thing uses some paint! I think in total we used 8 gallons of paint and im sure 2 of them were just floating around in the air, still beats a roller any day though! Really nice to have the shop all one color again.

And been working on my man cave inside. Just making the shop a nicer place to be, since I spend a lot of time in there anyway. Reorganized move the tool boxes side by side. Hung up all of my signs and ads. And the pièce de résistance, a new 43" smart TV. So now all my projects can take twice as long lol

As always horrible about taking pictures and more focused on get stuff done lol

I'm currently prepping for a trip down to windrock in TN. I've been putting some of this off for far to long. I've had a hum in the serpentine belt system for awhile and found that it's the fan clutch bracket .... fml. Got that on order and just waiting on parts. I've had the new steering rack sitting on the shelf and it was time!

Rack leaked and both inner tie rods had play along with a torn boot on one of the outers. This isn't a 1  job but all it all pretty straightforward. Only real issue I had was I couldn't get the intermediate shaft off the rack it was stuck on the pretty good, ended up removing it from up by the fire wall and taking the assembly out as a unit.

Finished off last night with it out and everything cleaned up. Waiting on a few more things from Mr.T and we will be good to reinstall

Rack is in, along with new high pressure and return lines. Next on the list is the fan clutch bracket also installing a diff breather kit while I'm in here

Sticking with the trend of late nights in the shop, was able to get the aisin fan clutch bracket and oem serpentine tensioner installed. Truck had a timing belt service at 144k and it just rolled over 190. Everything looked to be in order, belt was in good shape along with the other related components. Also swapped out the oil pressure sending unit just because.

Decided today I want to go ahead and replace the alternator while the rad is out. Ordered oem reman today should have it by Friday. Got the old one pulled and of course the three pin plug shattered the second I touched it. I'll order the replacement factory connector housing tomorrow. Hopefully I can have it by Friday as well.

Since I broke open the thermostat housing I got a new one as well, I ended up wet block sanding the coolant neck for the lower hose due to alittle bit of corrosion between the mating surfaces. I think with the new Tstat gasket it will be just fine.

Basically down to reassembly now, then refill and bleed the cooling system and power steering systems

well had a fairly frustrating weekend and didn't take a lot of photos but I'm in the home stretch. Started out on Friday when my parts order showed up at work minus the alternator :bang: . It ended up getting to my dealer on Saturday and I drove up to get it so I could keep moving forward.

Got everything buttoned back up and moved on to bleeding the cooling system, I have a vacuum bleed tool but still ended up with and air bubble in the system somehow. Spent the better part of Sunday morning working that out of the system.
Standing there checking over all my work i noticed i couldn't really feel the fan blowing a lot of air, engine running at temp 186* I was able to just reach in and stop the fan with my hand, virtually no resistance  This is a new Aisin unit i purchased about 7 months ago ( i did notice on really hot days the fan didn't seem to be keeping up as well)

So i proceed to pull the shroud, fan and clutch back out of the truck. Figuring I must have received one of the underfilled ones from the bad batch that Aisin had. I used to be big into the RC hobby and still have some friends that are, I was able to track down some 15k cst silicone oil. I pulled the clutch apart heated it and drained the fluid (there was almost none in there:oops:, Aisin has to work on there QC department) replace with the heavier oil. reinstalled everything on the truck and fired to life, the fan roared for about 5 seconds then quieted down and was moving a ton of air (thought i had this fixed:confused:). I let the truck get back to operating temp and gave it a few revs, the fan seems to be locked up all the time now roaring with every rev, even held rpms at a solid 2500 for about a min and the fan never stopped screaming.

So I accepted defeat for the day and went inside, ordered a factory fan clutch this morning ( yes i know its just a Aisin in a Toyota box) that should be hear tomorrow. get that put in, tape measure alignment (so i can drive it to the shop) and a few misc. things ill be ready for this trip.

Chin up my man! You are nearly there and with all the shiny stuff on your truck, you should be set for a long time!
As for the QC control, AISIN is not alone. Sadly, I have experienced sub-quality parts from Toyota too. My Toyota branded fuel pump soiled the sheets at precisely 24 months and it was bought from the local blood-suckers dealership. My two rear AHC globes were fresh from Japan and also failed within 20k miles.

I choose to beleive that there was a dark period in automotive quality parts due to pandemic but deep down I know I am lying to myself :meh:

its all good, i deal with this stuff all the time as well just frustrating at times. ill get it handled. It was good talking with ya yesterday

You've got a nice job in the works. If I didn't have a few setbacks, I would think something is terribly wrong. Thank you for sharing. These are some great tips.

i know right id be second guessing myself every step of the way

Ok all the major stuff is done, got the new fan clutch in and rack bleed out, did a tape measure alignment last night and drove it in this morning. Got the alignment done. Just got to button up a few small things before the trip.

man what a difference the new rack makes, steering is so much tighter, but I i shouldn't be surprised with how ling i put that job off

Leave Thursday morning. TN bound!

Good job man! How's the new fan clutch? Looks up when engine is at temp?

Oh yeah, good'ol State of Maryland historic plates. I'm currently rocking them on my '99 LX.
Lost track of how many sets of historic plates I've ran over the last 35 years.

Agreed! I'm happy to report that I am 100% road legal too. I just run them so I don't have to deal with visiting VEIP while I'm traveling.

I spend most of the year out of the state so I usually run into a situation where I'd have to drive all the way back for the emissions test.
I've been in New Orleans for over 4 months now and heading to Colorado from here, so no time to drive 1200 miles to MD.
