Jason I haven't ever owned a 60 series, so I am just thinking out loud here, but is the extension you are talking about between the transmission and the transfer case? If so, is it effectively the same length as a 5spd with split case? Would that same length of hose work for a 4spd plus extension and split case as well as 5spd and split case?

Last I remember, you probably have a small geography issue and can't measure your rig. Maybe someone with the extension can step up and measure. Thank you for your service to our country.
Yes, the 85 and later FJ 60 4 speed with the empty extension housing is the same length as the H55F 5 speed. The bypass hose length would be the same. John

The length of hose for a 74 and 76 FJ40 standard stock 4 speed with a one piece transfer case is 12.75 inches.

If you have a different drive train you are responsible for the length of the hose. These hoses are crimped and can not easily be modified if its too short or long. It will have to be shipped back to the manufacture by you not me at your cost and there is a cost for changing the length of the hose. Remember my first one was $60 plus shipping. These are $31.65 plus shipping and paypal fees for a total of $41.50. If you require a different length you will have to measure the distance from center of plu to center of plug. Best to use a 1/2 inch rubber hose with a gentle bend. Some of you are thinking this hose will fit a split case. According to posts by others on this thread a split case requires a longer hose. Sorry for being so firm but I have no way to measure any other drive line than what I own. If you cant get to your rig for some reason ask other mudders with the same drive line to measure theirs.

I dont understand why people install these hoses. ALL they do is allow the trans to be WAY under-filled and the T-Case to be WAY over-filled. They are in no way a repair and not at all needed if the trans and t-case seals are in good condition. If they are in bad shape they need to be replaced.

This is a band-aid at best and a bad band-aid at that.

When my transmission whiz buddy rebuilt my 4-speed case I supplied him a new mainshaft. Standing there at the bench he suddenly realized that the brand spanking new OEM part was out of speck. I mean seriously out. He said that there was almost no way to locate the various gears and bearings correctly and end up with the correct end play. He pretty much guaranteed a leak in the near future. The first exchanged shaft was even worse so I went aftermarket through a major LC parts supplier. Three more shafts later (plus all the return shipping $$$) I finally found a shaft that was OVER spec in all the right ways and had the dang thing milled.

Roughly fifteen years later there are no leaks though my mileage is not high. Time will tell whether or not I will top the 100K mile mark for a 4 speed mainshaft. Band aid or not, If I develop a leak in Timfrickenbuktu I'll slap on the hose I bought from shipmag and drive home singing "Thank you Lou" all the way.

Not sure if you are referring to me in particular but yes, I understand that I have ordered a 12.75" and I also understand that if it doesn't fit for some reason, I own it. If you look back at post #166, this is what I said......

........My truck has all its original components from 1977 so I am sure the measurement is the same as Shipmags 74 and 76......

Copenhagen it wasn't targeted to you personaly. With some of the mudders wanting different length it has become almost unmanageable for me.

The cost for a 12.75, 15.75 and 17.5 are all the same price of $41.5. We want to order these tomorrow so get your payment to me today. For paypay send me a pm please specify the correct length. Failure to verify the length you may not get what you want and there are no returns. If you need to modify the hose after you get it because you ordered the wrong length you will have to Pay the manufacture to modify it not me. Its your responsibility.

The manufacture in the US has enough to make 6 hoses. The Banjo fittings (18 x 1.5 mm) are not a popular size for them. As of yesterday he ordered from England the remaining Banjos to make all the hoses. To make this easy on me the first ones to go out will be the first that signed up my my spread sheet. It will take two weeks to get the rest of the banjo fittings. As soon as I get them in I will ship them out. I will post on the thread who's has shipped. There will be two shipments the first group is in the process of being made. We haven't ordered the second group so the couple we are waiting for to pay have more time. Also if more want to order there is still time to place more orders. Thanks for your patience.

Pablo your welcome, never thought it would be this big of a head ache with all the different sizes. now we just have to wait for the parts to come from England so the US vendor can make the hoses and ship them to me. Should be two to three weeks so be patient. He has six that are made up now with fittings he had in house. We should get those by the end of the week the first 6 that signed up will be shipped to first.

Your welcome Copenhagen thanks for the kind words. Your 17 inchers will be in the second batch shipped out in two or three weeks.

I hope you are just funnin' me! :)

I ordered 1 (one) 12.75" inch hose. You are scaring me....

No problem on the waiting though.
