Been awhile since I did some work on the 60 but got a little done the other day. Got some of the dash out and trying to get to a point where I can take the windshield out along with the other ones. Hope to start cutting the roofs in about a week. More to come.

I need to stop reading this thread while sitting in my easy chair. My jaw just dropped and hit me in the junk.

Shawn, thanks sir. Building two projects at one time right now. The other one is a 1995 Jeep Cherokee that is getting a V8 swap. Plans for it are: SBC 305, 700R4, Dana 300 with a teraflex 4:1 kit, four link rear, and three link front, and BFG Mudterrains 35x10.5. I have got the motor in it along with the t-case and trans. Got the axles built with 4.55 gears front and rear. The front is a Dana 44 out of a Wrangler and the rear is a Dana 44 out of a Scout. Working on the four link right now. Trying to spend time on both.

The Fj60 is in slow motion right now. Waiting on body guy to help with the roof transplant. Been working on the 4BD1T on and off. Got a master seal kit and putting it back together a little at a time. The hard part is finding used parts for the motor. Looking for motor mount right now. The dealership is gonna be around $300 bucks for mounts. Its getting there though. I promise there will be more to come.

You got that right cowboy. Its a **** virus. Don't think that I will dive this deep into another project for awhile

All right Isuzu guys, need to find numbers 24 & 25 with out going thru the dealer. They want around $300 for both sides:eek: for these two items. Any suggestions from anyone where to find these two items. Thanks

Call Tom's Truck Center is SoCal and ask for the used part department. I have bought a few things from that were priced very reasonably.

Project looks good,

Doug

Thanks Doug, would that be the one in Santa Ana or Garden Grove? Can't wait to get this thing going and on the road.

Doug, talked to the guy I got my motor from and he has another motor with mounts on it. I am getting both mounts and the power steering reservoir for $50. Like Mitch (Dazed) it just gets over whelming when I go out to the garage. Especially with two build going at the same time. Here are some pictures of my Jeep Rock Crawler, properly named Frankenstein. Some of the axles and part of the rear four link mount for the rear.

Well got everything but the pedal assemble out of the Brown one and ready to go back in the red one. That's when I am done with the roof transplant. Little at a time.

For engine mounts you can use Anchor part# 2469. They are under $5 each at Rock Auto. The application is Dodge V8 vans, but they were used on Cummins 4BT step vans. They work every bit as well as the Isuzu mounts.

Also first generation Cummins 6BT mounts can be used. Anchor part # 2710.
They are around $10. Very heavy duty, but a little stiff. Initially there was slight vibrations. I drilled about seven 1/4" holes horizontally through the rubber and now get no vibrations at all and get very little engine side to side movement while starting.

Both these mounts studs fit correctly in the Isuzu's engine mount bracket. Unlike the Isuzu mount they have a stud mount on the bottom. But since new frame mounts need to be fabbed up anyway, it's just as easy to make one with a single 1/2" hole as it is to make one with two 10MM holes.

Oof, that's the only part of my transmission conversion I am NOT looking forward to, swapping the pedal bucket :bang:

keep at it bluehawk! I finally got mine back on the road! Gonna put that smittybuilt on soon!

Great info on the engine mounts, one of mine is stating to tear and I have been looking at replacements. They both looks very similar to the Isuzu other than the frame side mounting.

Awesome, send me a picture when you get it put on. Think I will put the Jeep Crawler on hold and get the 60 done. The fab work on the Jeep is killing me right now. Think I can get the Cruiser on the road a lot quicker.

Got my mounts today, the guy I bought my motor from was passing thru town and dropped the new ones off for me. If anyone is wanting some Isuzu engine parts let me know, he has a few odds and ends left over.

Good decision!

Got a majority of the frame sand blasted today, then flipped it over to finish the bottom side. Next in line is rust bullet and some single stage black paint, rebuild the axles and do the spring over, mock up engine and put the body back on. No new pictures to post but hopefully in a few days will have some.
