You bought a Bridgeport! Very cool man!!!

Use the rear hatch windows and windshield to make sure that the frames are square and straight. It'd suck to be battling leaks after all this much work.

Good work my friend, keep it up! I chickened out of that job and got a whole new body lol.

The Bridgeport is the first big purchase for me in starting my little machine shop.

Yes Sir, I will be putting the doors, the upper and lower rear hatches on to make sure alignment is correct. It was a big step and a good friend helped me jump into it with both feet. Needless to say, it was nerve racking and scary as hell.

Wow this is intense! I would never attempt that, as I'm sure I'd mess it up big time. Do you have a timeline that you want to finish it in? A lathe and a mill will be huge helps in fabricating stuff for the engine.

It was pretty scary when it came time to cut the tops. Every thing matches up pretty good after getting the doors and hatches put back on. Just need to finish weld up all the seams and do a little body work, it should be ready to paint. I really don't have a time line, would like to have it done befor the end of summer. Will post some pictures of the 60 and some of the Bridgeport later on tonight.

60 with new top and doors on

Got the doors and the rear hatches put on. The gaps are pretty good. Now just need to do some finish welding and body work and its time to sand and put on new paint.

Also made plans to make the engine and trans mock up easier. Took what was left of the old brown body and cut it in half. This will make it easier to take on and off and move around easier.

Last picture is of the Bridgeport milling machine that I just bought. Spent about three hours cleaning on it. Next is to wire it up.

Looks damn good!!

Well I'm getting closer and closer to getting the frame finished up and the diesel back together. Waiting on the three pieces to get done at the ceramic coater and just a few spots on the frame to finish sand blasting. Just trying to find a spray gun to spray the rust bullet. Any ideas? Will post pictures of some of the progress on the motor tonight.

Painted Parts & Updates

Got the IP all cleaned up and painted. I was surprised when I took the valve cover off how clean it was. Also, the cylinder walls were nice and clean. I took some pictures of the cylinders but they didn't turn out good. More to come.

More Cash

Well, it's time to spend some more cash on the motor. As to the FSM, it said to have the fuel injectors checked before reinstalling them. Took them to City Diesel, local shop, and had them tested. Three of the four were bad:bang: and he only had two, and could order the other two. That hurt the old pocket at $220 each:doh:. Well, there is no other way around it. Did get the oil cooler cover painted and the bolts all cleaned up. Just cleaning up the hard fuel lines and brackets now and getting ready to throw it all back together. Here is a pic of the oil cooler cover.

Apparently some are unrebuildable....or so I was told. You will be happier knowing they are right and there won't be any issues. And I feel your monetary pain on this one. Did you go OEM?

Yes the shops that tell you that are the ones that can not repair the faces, the 4BD1T injectors seem especially prone to face damage here is a pic of mine.

This is what they are suppose to look like.

They can be repaired it just takes some specialized tools. 3 of mine are bad one looks like new.

Hate to tell you this but the injectors are rebuildable for about $50 each.

Do you have any part numbers? The shop I went to is a very good shop and I know one of the co-owners.

Three of mine look like your top picture. I was told that this is caused by the pressure that causes the two pieces to bump together and also by high milage trucks. So does that worn out piece come off of the upper assembly? Would rather spend $50 per injector than $220 each.

The injectors can be machined and heat treated. However they will not last as long as just buying new ones. I talked with three shops and all said that I would get the same mileage to investment for buying new as opposed to rebuilding. The trick would be if you could find a way to rebuild yourself.

Do you know if that part that wears out can be taken off of the rest of the body? I could machine a tool to take that piece off but have no idea where to get that piece at. May just pay out the cash and get new ones from Bosch.

It is actually part of the body not a replicable part. The shop that I found that fixes them is in SoCal and they actually press in a new hardened face after some machine work to open it all up. I do not know the details about it but they are very familiar with the Isuzu 4BD1T injectors. They can also usually rebuild the nozzles as well. Longbow sent his out to this place to be fixed with good results.

Interesting how three of mine where also shot wile one was like new.

More Diesel Work

Got a little more done on the diesel motor. My buddy came over and looked at the progress of the body. Plans were made to finish up the welding and then to start the finish work. Also got the axles out of the old frame and getting ready to start taking them apart and rebuilding. Sorry no pictures of the axles.

slow progress

work has been crazy right now and haven't had much time to work on the Cruiser. I have been doing some finish welding on the top but other than that, not much to update right now. There will be more to come:o
