mock up engine and put the body back on.

Be careful here. I have had to move the firewall (via a hammer) to get the turbo to fit (isnt finalized) and there is another space issue by the accelerator lever on the back right corner of the engine near where the heater lines to the cab are. You might find that the body doesnt fit with the engine and some modifications are needed. I am also possibly (needing to confirm) running into an issue near the clutch slave cylinder.

If I remember in your thread, you are running a different turbo. I am running an all stock 4BD1t, with stock turbo. What trans are you running, I am using an H55 with my setup. I will post some pictures of my transplant when the time comes. I think you will like how I will be doing mine. It is a surprise right now and I don't want to let the cat out of the bag. :D

Is there any difference between the left and right motor mounts? Visibly they look the same, which is the left and which is the right? Guess I should have looked a little closer before posting the picture. The frame mount portion is different. One points to the left and the other points to the right. Which way should these go?

Has anyone sprayed on rust bullet? I have a harbor freight hvlp gun and I have an old fashioned siphon gun. Which one would be good for this type of application and would I have to change tips or what?

Awesome build, just flipped through the whole thread......like my signature say I'm torn on which way to go with mine, your is looking great keep at it...Subscribed....

The pointed bits point towards the rear of the truck. Also, the rubber should have a "RH" and "LH" on them.

It was easy for me, the 2F didn't run and I have always wanted a diesel. It is a slow process building this rig but it will be there soon enough.

Haven't pulled them apart yet, and that will help greatly. Thanks for the info Mitch, how is your build coming along?

Both cruisers fixing to go under the knife, will post pictures as soon as it happens. Hopefully it will take place this weekend. :hillbilly:

Let the carnage begin :)

Yeah I did. You will need to grind the inside of your bellhousing down a bit. Be sure to turn the engine at every step to confirm that it can. Also, if you are using the tach sensor from Dustin, put it into the adapter plate before you attach the remote oil filter block and starter and before you out the engine in the truck if you can. Be sure to remove the pin too before you attach the bellhousing.

Good luck and let me know if I can help!

Thanks Mitch, do you have any pictures of the tach from Dustin. I didn't buy one from him but would like to see what it looks like. Are you using the new oil filter block off plate? Does his tach set up work with the OEM tach in the cluster?

Thanks , Ryan

Hey, I have a picture that I can post later. It is a pretty sweet setup and uses the idea from the thread below and hooks up to the OEM tach in the cluster. I havent gotten it working yet since I dont know if the engine works yet.

I am using the oil block off plate and will be installing it and the starter this weekend. I will take pictures of that too.

Where are you in the build again?

Well it is a very slow build and been gathering parts for awhile. Getting ready to start laying down the rust bullet and finishing up the frame work. Along with that, I have been cleaning up the 4BD1t and putting all new gaskets in it and spraying some paint on it also. Getting ready to send off the front fenders, both rear hatches and the lower dash panel for body work and primer. Hopefully the roof swap will take place this weekend. Once that takes place, I have an idea on how to get the frame and motor mocked up for proper fit. Just been doing alot of reading of other peoples threads and their swaps to the 4BD motor. Your way ahead of me but it helps out since you are using the adapter from Dustin.

Had a little daddy / daughter time since my son was in the house sick today. She helped take the instrument cluster apart so that I can do a little murdering to it. Will post a picture of it later tonight. Has anyone ever tried to roll the odometer back to read all zero's? Think I will be going for the murdered look on the outside and the inside. Just trying to do a few small things before roof cutting takes place.

Well the instrument cluster surround didn't turn out like I wanted it to. It wound up with a bunch of heavy orange peel. Gonna have to sand it down and start over on it. :bang::bang:

Well I finally made it happen. Got the roofs cut off and switched. It is tacked into place and needs some fine adjustment to make it right.

Here is what's left of the old body. The back half is sitting out side now. Next is the finish welding the top on and then finish the frame. Just about to finish sand blasting it and ordering some rust bullet tonight. Next week is going to be busy, just bought a 1962 Bridgeport Milling Machine. Gotta go pick it up Monday and then find room in the garage.
