There you go. I stand corrected. See, I'm not a hater.

The 1GZ-FE V12 engine is a rather light V12 engine; made of aluminum with magnesium valve covers. The power is estimated to be around 310hp and 355lb-ft of torque, curve of which is probably amazingly flat. Designed to propel a heavy luxury vehicle, it probably wouldn’t be my choice for the little IS but I am sure that it will be a hoot to hoon. The V12 is said to weight around the same as a twin-turbo inline-six from the Supra, which is a common swap into the IS (I would love to drive one!), and hopefully the installer managed to shoe-horn the V12 deep into the chassis. From factory the V12 comes mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission but the builder says that a manual is in the works for this project. I will provide updates as they become available, but judging by the below videos the car is complete. Note how smoothly the engine is running.

And the 105 never came with a V8. This is going to be a huge power increase for the 105... Even if the turbos weren't installed.

you get 14 mpg , nicee ;)

Actually, my last tank averaged 8.6. I live across the street from where I work. When I'm really lazy, I drive across the street (I know, shameful). When I drive across the street, a tank lasts me a month, but I only get 8.6mpg.

It's all good though. I live in LA. Actually, I'm looking for a bumper sticker that says "I offset your Prius".

Interesting to see a V12 shoehorned into an IS. I personally can attest to the fact that the IS300 is super tight, as shoehorning the 2JZ-GTE with twin turbo's into mine barely fit!

The V12 would be a nice relaxed torquey motor for the hundy. But like the IS swap, it would be for the novelty IMO. I would love to have the diesel inline 6 (1HD-FTE) that the rest of the world gets, and put in a large turbo. The 1HD-FTE is as legendary and bulletproof as the 2JZ-GTE is renowned for in the states.

Midfat, the V12 conversion without the turbos would have cost the same as putting a 4.7l V8 in. I use the 105 for towing either an off road caravan or a xcountry racing car. The 6 did not have the torque I needed. We also do long trips in the dunes where we do 140kph plus to crest some of the larger dunes. A bit more grunt will make this a lot more fun.

The 105 has a 275l fuel tank and towing at 120 I get about 3km/l, don't think the 12 can be worse than that.

A thing of beauty is a joy forever. Even if it's under the bonnet.

Excited to see more of this project - What about daily updates? Does it help to say Please? Manual box?

This project is worth it just for the noise its going to make.....Turbo V12 sound out of a 105.......:D

Please please please post a video of it running when ever you get it finished

Hey, if any of us were practical, we wouldn't be driving a 6000lb, AWD, V8 powered land tank that gets 14mpg.

Most truthful post ive seen on any forum ive ever been on. Nice!

Let me get this straight, not only are you putting a V12 in it, youre installing twin turbos? or is it you havent decided between a t3 or a t4?

Also, why the six speed auto?? Why not a manual transmission??

Ive heard the low down torque of this engine is seriously impressive, how will you use the vehicle??? competition?

VERY impressive project, that's pretty much all I can honestly say

Lugueto

I have 3 cruisers, a 200 diesel, the 105 and an 80 VX diesel. The 105 is the "toy" and on the efi I had the head gas-flowed and it had a chip and some camshaft work done on it, As mentioned the 105 is used for towing, long trips and dune trips in Namibia. It is registered for road use.

The auto box is being fitted as it is stronger than the manual in my opinion and the main reason is that I'm lazy.

The T3/T4 is a combination turbo that works over a larger rev range. We are making up ceramic coated down pipes and the turbos will be fitted with jackets to reduce under bonnet temps.

Brakes will be the next thing that should get some attention.

Thank goodness, cruisers are not exactly known for their braking, and having at least 500 horses wont help! You will need powerful stoppers.

I would look into beefing up that transmission just so it lasts, but thats just me.

Again, impressive! Thanks for your reply!

cheers,

Luis

PD: Sounds like you have a sweet cruiser quiver!

Put on hdj100 brakes, with the electric booster. Stopping power also if the engine dies.

Oh... looked at the pic above again. It already has the high pressure brake booster. So the available pressure should be ok. Just need the biggest possible rotors, good calipers, etc.

ive read some people have succesfully put the new tundra front calipers on an 80 series with some slight modification so it could even work on the 105 with bigger wheels. a brembo kit would be a better solution but the tundra calipers would be cheaper and more practical.
