Tossing around a vintage ARBish bull bar

Even though I have d-ring shackle mounts I also have quick recovery hooks down below that may get in the way. I always questioned the position of that bar. I know it was intended as shackle protection but it also affected approach angle. Americans always had different uses for their cruiser than the Aussies. The Aussie designs were very practical for the outback filled with crazy roos. I think outback travel needed roo bars. We're very short on roos here. It could always an option however.

I like it a lot! Any eta on when you'll have some available?

I could have these up in two weeks...I don't sleep a lot... by the way, how's the reconstrction of the disaster coming?
My heart dropped when I saw Tucker's truck

I think its a sweet bumper! Price is good too. One option that would be cool to add but Im sure would increase the cost:Have the possibility of an option of the bullbar/tube-work to fold forward so its flat so people that hunt could put game on it and haul it back to camp or home. Also, I am sure some will want some tubing to come along the fender down to the rockers like the arb did. I imagine people will have lots of ideas as I do myself to add to your design. But I know you are willing to customize per customer request, perhaps some are not aware of this. I think the design you have right now is a good solid base design to sell. If people want more options to add then perhaps just make that clear that you can do so unlike a arb bumper where it is what it is and that is that.

as for a game rack..why not a removable that pivoted from the d-ring mounts

Love the basic design , pretty close to what I had in mind for my future build as I'm not really enthused with almost every bumper design for the 40 series nose .

I do worry about turn signal visibility and anything that blocks the headlights - around here that will earn you a fast ticket .

I'd like to see an increase in height in the top bars - while we don't have roos in this country at least in the Midwest we have very suicidal white tail deer - some are nearly the size of a cow since they dine on corn and soybeans . Perhaps at least the amount of coverage your brush guard offers ...?

BTW- is that brush guard available , don't see it on the website and I love that design ....

we have a run of four going. Three are spoken for. We had it on the site for a couple years. They only sold three or four a year.
We need to build five at a time to keep retail at 349.00.

This one is being built for a late, square bezel 40. The lights are about 2" farther apart than on the '73 it's mounted to so this bumper encroaches on
this one's lights but clears an extra inch on the intended truck
The perfect position for the early begins to get in the way of the two inner bumper bolts so I drew a notch in the base of the upright so the inner bolts can be used in the final cuttings. This main hoop one was also dropped 2" so the light bar would be a little lower. I will probably stick with the taller hoop.

With the taller main hoop could the light bar hoop be made to to somewhat follow the basic contour of the hood so it would protect the hood? Along the lines of the LR 110 Camel Trophy brush bar. I'm referring to just the bar that is on top of the main bar Camel Trophy brush bar only.

It looks like the bumper is 4" tall, could the bumper be made 5" tall? I think would like the proportions better.

Up until now my favorite 40 bumper was your brush guard, but this one is even better.

The channel is stock ID width so it bolts to existing mounts but heavier gauge ( 1/4" ) The ID is 4 3/8 so the overall width is 4 7/8"
I would like to keep the light bar hoop for those reasons that it matches the hood line and does a bit to protect the hood. It breaks up that long straight line across the top. The fact that it allows a 20" light bar is just icing.

Ah so it's taller than I was guessing. 4-7/8" is pretty close to 5" lol.

Nice thing about the top bar is it could be an option to have it or not have it.

I like the top bar. Dave- can you post a full shot of the front of the truck?

We've got the frame pretty straight on the 1981 FJ43 this bumper goes to. The production versions will be more suited to the pre '80 model.
The difference being the uprights will be 2" closer together to match the headlight spread of the vast majority of 40s in the US.
We are going to run a couple 8274 versions , a couple planetary and a non winch version and test the waters before committing to adding them to the site.
They weigh 93 lbs without a winch mount. Winch parts will add about 15lbs. The unfortunate side of a bumper this size is shipping. I'll be stuck with truck freight.
