I recently got a '95 that came with theses 18 inch rims. I want to put on mud terrains and was wondering if anybody knows how big I can go before needing a lift kit? The ones on there now are 285 60 18...thanks in advance.

I have to ask myself, "who the **** would put wheels like that on a landcruiser"?

As I stated when posting this they came with it so you'd have to ask whoever had this in Philly before me. I wish I held onto the ones from my '93 that got wrecked. Again thanks for your awesome feedback. Too bad you're in N Cali and not NY, we could've done lunch and further discussed.

You in Philadelphia? I have 5 stock 15in rims with 33x10.5 bfg AT on them. I'm going to be selling them. Tires have about 1,000 miles on them. I'm turning mine into a rock crawler, so going bigger. @Mike Calfapietra

I'm in NY on Long Island. I found this online and had it shipped as everything I saw locally was junk after looking for months. How much are you looking for?

Using your current rims you can mount a 285/65r18. This would be the equivalent of a 285/75r16 or 32.5"x11.2".

If I were me, I'd sell those things to some bro with a Tacoma and find some OEM 16" alloys.

15's won't fit without spacers on a '95 and even then the tires are going to remove the fender flares for you the first time you get towards the top of the travel. Additionally, your scrub radius will be all out of whack and will act like you have zero castor.

The OEM 16's are stupid beefy- many say they're stronger than steelies, will fit your brakes and steering geometry like Toyota designed them to, will open you up to a wider and more modern selection of tires, and with 33's (285/75-16), will tuck into your fenders without touching your flares. The effects on acceleration and braking will be minimal and your speedo will only be 3MPH slow by the time you get to 60 and about 4MPH by the time you're at 70- 75.

Hey what did you end up going with? i just got a 94 and put a 2.5 lift on and want to get 33s for my 16" rims but not sure if i should go 295 or 305/75/16

With 2.5 of lift go 35's or you'll regret it. Easy fit!

@Bellzarr imho unless you are running tougher trails and have a swingout, 295s hit the spot with a mild lift. you can keep the spare underneath in back and tire weight is less an issue. my $0.03

I had 315s and they were heavy, etc. But they looked sweet : )

I'll post some photos when it's been completed just sent the stock rims out to be powder coated black and ordered
Toyo Open Country A/T II LT295/75R-16 - LT295/75R16 I did the old man E med lift from slee. I think they will fill up the well nice and hopefully a good compromise between road travel and beach and trail. Also want to fit the spare in the carrier as I'm spending on some other things and can't swing for a good rear bumper right now.

As others have noted, 33's are fine on a stock cruiser assuming the wheel backspacing is similar to stock. In 16" rim sizes, that would mean 295/75, 285/75, 255/85 or 305/70. Like these other sheeple, I would also ditch the 18's--not just for style reasons, but because the larger wheel leaves you with smaller sidewalls for the curbs at the dunkin donuts drive through. Aside from those tire sizes listed above for 16's, there are some swell tire sizes available for 17" wheels, like 285/75/17 (aka a true 34" tire) which would probably work OK on a stock rig--maybe rub a little bit when flexed.
