I like the way tint looks on some LCs but tintless windows look great on older LCs. What do you guys think? Pros and Cons? I acquired mine with dark tint, not sure if I should change it or remove it.

I love both.

I’ve never owned a car that hasn’t had tint.

imho tint is a personal preference. If this is a vehicle you use for any significant travel, I would suggest at minimum UV tint for skin protection; it can be applied in an array of tint hues from clear to blackout…. So no matter your tint preference you can gain benefits of it

if all GCC guys can go without tint - thats good enough for me

unless you are a head of state or have escorts in the back seat at the park and ride- come join the no tint crew

transparency- good enough for the soul and the land cruiser

When I was a big pot head, I tinted the windows, I no longer need tint in my life!! 🤷‍♂️

I recently "tinted" my front windshield and front two windows with CLEAR heat and UV-blocking tint. I love it, its amazing how well it works. It keeps the heat down A LOT. If you are sitting there with the windows up and the sun shining in on your face and arms, and then roll the window down, you can immediately feel the heat on your skin and realize how much the tint is blocking it. I have no idea how that works, SCIENCE!

It of course protects your leather seats and dash, which in the 80 seem to be particularly vulnerable to the sun because of how they are positioned relative to the windows.

It has a very light bluish hue to it, which I like.

I recently replaced the windshield itself with the blue tinting on top.

My rear doors, cargo windows and rear hatch are factory. Ive considered having them done in the same clear, heat-blocking tint but haven't yet.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The shop I had it done at used the Llumar products, so that's what I went with. But Im sure there are several other brands that work just as well or maybe even better.

I just realized I posted pics of my 80. I did the same thing on my 200 before I did the 80....

Nice, Im guessing that must be a 2008 as those are about the only years Ive seen of 200s without the rear factory tint? I love the no rack slicktop look too.

Can't answer for the subjective.

As this is an SUV with storage in open view, I prefer having tint in the back rows for security.

Being in Socal with lots of sun and extended overlanding, I do also prefer to have some tint on the front side windows. Technically it's illegal so I have the lightest tint possible. Lightest also to have a reasonable balance for vision at night.

Thank you. You may be referencing USDM only, as rest of the world is no tint all around even in the last of the 200s, brand new in 2021.

Mine is 352 days of sunshine Out in the desert, harsh climate, working the v8, being used as a LC should be.

No hipster instgram forklift BS here :hillbilly:

No tint, just like Toyota God intended.

I'm basically a vampire so tint is mandatory  Much easier to keep the cabin comfortable for me. I'll agree, no tint does have a certain aesthetic value on a LC in particular, but I just can't do it.

I feel like since ceramic tints have been coming out they have come a long way in blocking heat and not having to use a dark shade to get that result.
A lot of these basically clear ceramic tints block more radiant heat than the 5% metalized or dyed films. If you don't want the look of a tinted window then definitely go find a place that will install a 70% or 80% ceramic tint. Just having the UV blocking is worth it.

Tint. It's way too way hot here to not have it.

We just did tint for door glass. It is legal allowed limit for TX. The rest of glass at back already had some tint to it. We have always tinted our driver and passenger doors glass for all cars/truck/suv we have owned.
