It is getting there...ML was this the original transfer case that came with the truck when it was running?? The linkage is off by almost 1 1/2" from the shaft. This is a later model linkage. Do you have spares laying around?? If not I will make modifications. Also do you have the linkage rods in your hiding place? If you do no big deal. I can hook it up later. Just wondering if you put it someplace you wouldn't lose it. :bang:

Hey Randy, yes this is the TC that came with the wagon. I will check my garage to see if there is anything laying around...

Cool I will be finishing everything else off. Driveline is in and the transfer mount is up. Tied off all the little stufff today. I will wire in the A/C and the tach tomorrow and get her ready to go to the exhaust shop. After that a little cleanup and get her ready for delivery.

Got it figured out no worries. I will just need the transfer case rod for the range selection. Did you find the BATT. Tray? If not get a hold of the CRUISER CRAP guy. He can get stainless trays now.

Randy named it The Ghost and we'll keep it at that. It will now be the Ghost with Guts.

Ghost with Guts! I like it! Or, Gutsy Ghost?

(this thread rocks!)

:bounce2:

Shussssh... I don't have the trays in stock yet, but they are on the way. Maybe this can be our test truck? :D

AWW YEAH!! I like that! How are the TEQ knobs coming? I need to get these brake lines in tonight and off she can go for exhaust. Still want to make a cover for the radiators though. I was measuring on it last night so I can make a print. Next weekend should be the deliver date but don't tell anyone:D

Rigger: Gutsy Ghost nice one... We gonna name yours??

I've been kindly referring to mine as the sleeping steel pig...but have other less kind words for it at times.
I also call the FJ55 the "iron pig", the FJ6X's are "steel pigs", and the FJ Cruisers are affectionately called "paper pigglets".;p

Fired it up for the first time today. Scared the hell outta me. Mrs Dirty's gonna have my hyde when I come home with it (possibly tomorrow night).
Still figuring out the fuel pump relay (currently bypassed it), and will be figuring out numerous little things along the way. Also trying to find another spot for the Toy temp sensor (I understand that I somehow need the GM temp sensor to remain connected to the GM ECU, but that doesnt work with the Toy gauge hence the "need" for two sensors).
Back to someone else's swap!:hhmm:

But with a name like paulwolf350 I would say The Silver Bullet

Yeah I thought of that one, but I thought it was a bit corny and done to death, I like silver crush, cause its gonna get a bit hammered

iaintscared1969,

Quick question for you as I see you said that you have an opening coming up. I just sold my 80 in Sept, and need a Cruiser for hauling around my three labs, hunting, and camping. The 80 just did not have enough power with the 33's so I was going to move to a truck. After following your vorte swaps I am starting to look for a 60. How is this swap long term as far as drivability. I don't care so much about mileage, but would be curious what people are getting with the vortec. Your thoughts?

OK I am planning on sending the Ghost on it's way next weekend. Looking for a Saturday delivery which would be the 12th. So that is the big day!! PARTY AT MARK'S HOUSE!!

And to answer BPMOU I would say long term expect a good pulling, decent gas mileage vehicle. I hope some of the other Vortec Junkies out there would chime in, but all in all you would get a 200+ year engine with all the goodies that came with it and expcet to run over 100,000 with reasonable maintenance cost. :grinpimp:

yup just change the oil, fuel filter, plugs (at 100,000k) and wires arnt even recomened till 150,000k and you will have a very spund engine for years to come. no more adjusting valves, playing with carbs, messing with ancient smog equipment (that was out dated before it was even made) no more millions of vacume lines ect.
