😱

They couldn’t even be bothered to put bolts in where the rivets were. FAWK!🤬

I have said elsewhere on the forum that there are three kinds of feasance that you can be held accountable for.
The first is nonfeasance, where you should have done something, but you didn’t.
The second is misfeasance, when you did do something, but didn’t do it correctly.
The third is malfeasance, when you do something wrong AND YOU KNOW ITS WRONG.

That to me is a case of malfeasance.

What’s even worse is that the tangs on the end of the plate aren’t supposed to be visible; they tuck up inside the lower channel of the rear crossmember. SMH
You bring up a good concern about the perch mount orientation. You wouldn’t happen to have pictures of what it was supposed to be do you? It is an ‘82 and my FSM doesnt go into too much detail on the frame.

I had a funny feeling you might be dealing with a crossover situation, with a 78 and older hanger on a '79 and newer frame. There's just something about working on the same truck for 40 years that triggers certain hunches.

Are the OD of the frame bushings in that hanger 1" or larger?

It is approximately 1 11/32” if I am understanding you correctly.

That reminds me of when @Vintij74 brought his 45 in with a power steering conversion done at a local shop (since closed) that plumbed a hard line between the engine-mounted power steering pump and the frame-mounted gearbox!😱

Would rather see that than FRONT BRAKES!

No problem, don’t drive on any bumps or with anyone really heavy in your rig.

Thats a winner right there Matt.

My guys found a lot of other issues as well, including poorly functioning rear brakes, so if that line burst, there's nothing... we all know how well the stock e-brake works on these, especially when not maintained.
Worse is this vehicle has a 10-page carb-tuning/ignition thread on this forum... which means the owner has been driving it like this for at least 6 months.

Repaired properly.. a nice showcase of my 17mm brake hose mounting tab, available on my store 😄
This vehicle still has a LOT of things wrong with it (how many can you count just in this picture?! ), but now that this and a few other major safety items are corrected the owner will get some homework to either tinker with himself (with the best parts supply and instruction possible now that we have seen his vehicle) or it will come back here at a later scheduled date for some outpatient, not emergency work, which is how we like to do things

…like the missing hose on the bottom of the charcoal canister?🤦🏻‍♂️

Hmmm... He has a cotter pin where the caliper anti-rattle spring should be. The oil cooler is painted and bubbling. There should be a bracket for the gas filter...but its just hanging there. And the charcoal canister has an abbreviated drain nub...not that does much anyway.

This is just one picture too... it isn't the worst assembled 40 I've seen but it is really bad, like the entire vehicle's mechanicals and wiring are on par with a lot of the 3rd-world imports we get through here. For what it's worth though, the body and frame are actually pretty well done (for what the owner paid), so it just needs a LOT of mechanical and electrical sorting and then it will actually be a really nice Cruiser for him. It just isn't the "full restoration" he thought it was.

That looks like some serious pakistani craftsmanship to me. Wait 'till you see my 43.....

I've spent months fixing idiocy and you're gonna see more than I haven't gotten to.

That’s the thing, we fully understand exactly what we are in for on a 3rd world imported 40/43/45. That’s why your project was planned months in advance with 5-figures worth of parts stacked up ahead of time
