They are still on the road - North of San Francisco yesterday.
He's having trouble finding time to upload photos and post. A few photos go to his Mom and family.
Thanks…. As long as they’re making progress and having fun. 😊

So how many guys are in the Troopy? Is there another vehicle traveling with you?
There was another car with 2 brothers who had come along but had to turn around after 2 weeks due to their moms orders :( so now it’s just 4 guys in 1 troopy
Sorry I missed this! You caught me at the corner by T&H in Moab yesterday (fj60), called me out on the PA (I didn't hear what was said), loved seeing the Troopy on an adventure! I was taken by surprise and was headed home after a day in deep grass training my crew about working in hot weather (😁 it's a desert). If you had followed me, I would have encouraged you all to get drunk and derailed your adventure while inspiring all the crazy trails here. Damnit! I'd have loved the story, reading it now. I regret not waving with the MUD greeting, that might have been funny..😄

Thanks for the comrade! Wish i was with you!
That’s awesome. We have seen and talked to so many fellow cruiser heads, especially in CO and Utah, loads of them everywhere I love it.
You guys still plugging along? 😁
Yup! Sorry about being absent I wish I could update y’all more about this trip but we have only stayed in 1 hotel and just haven’t had the time, connection, or battery power haha. Here’s a few things I’ve been able to get off my new drone, and some from the camera. I try to a weekly update on Instagram if anyone wants to check on there my username is @johnathan_ciarrocca. I’m definitely gonna make a separate thread of day by day photos and stories from this trip once I can have all the photos uploaded when I get home.
Last thing is the troopy really struggled through the Mojave Desert, it was 121 degrees and not cooling properly. Most uncomfortable and hot I’ve ever been. Those 2 days sucked so much but we made it to the Pacifc coast and it’s been an amazing 60° since.

In Europe we used to put a spacer between the hood and the hood hinges to get better cooling when pushing a 70 series , looks a but hilbilly maybe but it works and keep engine temps down.

I had that recommended to me by a local GOV contractor who up armors 70 series for use in the mid-East. I did that to mine. A trip to lowes, 4X new nuts and bolts, maybe 28 washers, and 30 minutes of time wrenching with a friend to help position the hood. It also makes clearance for a intercooler if you need it. Having the gap around the hood lets hot air rise upward and out not just rolling down and backward under the car. Too bad "theglobb" didn't get this prior to the desert. Would have been easy for him on the road to do.

Johnathan and his crew just stopped by and took my 45 for a spin. They're doing well, still fighting the heat. I passed the tip along to space out the hood hinges.

They're on their way to SLC now.

Thanks, I barely do, one reason I sold my 40, not enough time in the day...

Welp, got back home on the 2nd. Trip of a lifetime is over and now it's time to enjoy the rest of my summer. Really wish I could've had the time and connection to be able to update everyone real-time on what was happening and all the pretty pics but it just wasn't easily possible. A little over 9,000 miles in a month and the only breakdown I had was the venturi hoses ripping open on an uphill. Literally nothing else, the only time I took out a wrench was to adjust fuel depending on altitude. Not many other 34 year old cars can you strap a turbo onto and bomb it across the country with no mechanical issues at all. Will be making a thread of day by day'ish with photos, videos, etc etc whenever I got more time. Can't wait to show everyone what all has happened!

Awesome man. Thanks for sharing.

Been busy catching up on the bit of summer I missed while across the country. Other than just beach driving and city miles, my buddy and I took the troopy up to Washington D.C. and picked up a 1JZ to swap into his 87' 4Runner. Even with an auto trans attached it still fit, just made the troopy ride really nice for the 18-hour drive there and back. Also just picked up a horribly rusted-out 55 I spotted a bit ago only 30 minutes from where we live. Will get to that XC thread at some point, just been busy.

Been really busy squeezing out the last little bit of summer I got, head up to college on Saturday. Managed to get the Cross Country thread started and made a short video of the trip and the rest of my summer. Hopefully y'all like it! I'm gonna post an update on everything that's happened with the troopy whenever I got time to breathe 👍

Well done man. Too bad you can't make it back up here before school starts, but maybe we can have a red troopy revival in the mountains when I go visit my folks in the fall. Yeah, where did the summer go?
