Good lord that’s a lot of tire. I just put my 37’s on to see where they hit and I’m a little concerned about their weight. This year at EJS I had to stand on the skinny pedal to make is up some ledges. I’m unsure if my running gear will hold up to theses 37’s in the same conditions Sweet tire though, lots of our editors have run these and rave about them. Yes, they will howel on the freeway. Awesome traction in all types of terrain. A buddy of mine was talking to Nitto's tread designer at Moab a few years ago. He got the idea for the tread design from dinosaur bones. Look at the tread design and think, “dinosaur fingers”. I'm guessing he was looking at the Velociraptor front claw bones.

Are the wheels bead locks?

Holy crap! Still think you'll be maintaining 70 to Rubithon? Can't wait to see it in person.

Still looking forward to the steering progress:cheers:

Steering is complete except for the hydro assist, which will come later on.

to give you an idea of the tire size

I might reduce speeds to 65/60mph

Awesome pic Sam!

Either you have one REALLY nicely decorated Garage or the misses and/or parents are out of town while you store your parts in the living room!

:D

Hahaha, I love working on the car in flip flops. Sweet pic bro!

Fix it for ya Sam..........

J/k Bad Ass build so far man

Thanks for the words, they go a long way.

The garage is a mess of cables, tires, bolts, brackets, and misc. parts. I've kept it pretty clean and will run through it and toss the junk and start compiling the for sale list of items. So be ready for that.

Yes Flipflops are awesome, but I never work in them (at least not when I'm doing anything substantial or involving heavy items) If you haven't had the pleasure of a 1/2" ratchet and socket drop on your foot keep it up and you'll always throw on the boots. I wont even mention the the feeling of a 38" tire mounted and slipping off the hub onto my foot feeling.

5'8" on my good days, lol. Mind you the 4th tire is not even stacked. I'll bring brad over and have him stand next to that for a pic lol (he's like 6'3").

Thanks guys hope to run a trail or two with each of you at some point this summer.

That tire and wheel combo is going to look sweet Sammy! I am looking forward to hearing how those Nitto's do on an 80. Hopefully they will do your rig justice. :)

No pics of the wheels? Are they a true beadlock version of your old wheels? They have to be black, but let's see them! Jealous, er I mean inquiring minds want to know. :D

Pablo that has to be the most tricked out BBQ tool I have ever seen. Do you really have that and the flamed hot rodded gold metallic BBQ to go with it? If so I have got to see them in person some time.

They are indeed black and they would have been true beadlocks, but after reading several articles on the whole beadlock thing it seems that unless you are running them on 15" rims or your have the double beadlocks (front and back) they don't help very much can in case of blowing a bead on the trail on the inside wall, they would cause a lot more trouble and headache than a regular rim. Therefore I went with a simple rim, steel, strong, and affordable. I

If anything I'd go with the Staun internal beadlocks. They actually work for the larger rim sizes.

Good points indeed. They do require regular maintenance, like we need anymore of that. :p I have heard nothing but good about the Stauns.

Pending...I can say this. I ran into the sales rep at TLC out here in Van Nuys who happened to have an entire 80 body that he was parting.
(The story behind that is that a guy out in Florida put the 60 body on an 80 frame and sus with american muscle power.)

I pulled the A-Pillar to the C Pillar section and the windshield. So luckily there will be no need for Plexi or lexan front window, which after doing my research was niether cheap nor desirable when compared to factory glass.

Looking forward to seeing how the cage turns out. :D

If you mean that Al's doing the same thing, I'm totally aware, but the 60 I saw was white and in california.
