I lied. I grabbed that other vacuum Port off the top of the intake and put my dissy and charcoal cannister in that using a T

Anyone have any reasons why that’s not OK?

This is about as simple as I can make this 3FE. Lots cleaner than before.

RPMs pull nicely to redline and it seems to still make power above 3500 better with the bigger head. Now I have to get some miles on it.

Gonna change the oil to make sure I’ve got all the rebuild stuff out of it and I’ll DD it all next week and see what shakes loose

Still can’t find a home for these grounds though.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the benefits of the “upgraded” head as you drive it more.

That radio looks like it might need some "help" at some point.

...sorry I just want to make sure you don't run out of ideas here.

I got a slick little power unit to go under the seat so my OEM AM goodness will be able to stay in place

Aight. Need some brain trust here.

Ran great 10 miles Saturday.

Today I wanted to drive it to town. Got a mile out and it stopped taking fuel. It will get home as long as I’m at about 20% throttle. After that it loads up.

No CEL

Came home. Checked the MAF harness. Good.

Checked the new intake hoses. All on tubes solid and tight. No leaks

Fuel pressure to the rail is steady

Cranks right up and then slowly dies.

Fuel pressure is steady throughout the die off I assume you are trying to say?

On the upside. I have a pressure gauge coming off the PowerSurge and it’s providing steady pressure.

Is that regulator one of those things that’s not available on a 3FE?

MR2 regulator works on the 3FE.

Acts like a vac leak to me, or possibly the MAF reading/going bad.

Unplug the MAF and see how it'll act. If it does better it is defaulting to open loop and you need to clean or replace it.

Will it idle on it's own? I'll assUme it has a cable throttle body, I'd wedge a small stick or something in it to hold it at a steady RPM (2000-3000) and lightly and slowly fog the engine bay with some starter fluid. A vac leak will show itself.

You're saying the fuel pressure is steady. Does it read at the fuel rail and post fuel filter? Partial throttle could be trash in the tank/line somewhere.

Does it have a cat?

My 1999 Tacoma's ECU takes readings from the MAF and the o2 to adjust fuel trims unless it's WOT or there is a fault in the system like for the MAF or o2. So closed loop under normal driving conditions then open loop for WOT or faults in the system.

I’ll try to unplug the MAF tomorrow. I have another one here of unknown condition I can swap in. Good idea.

First thing I did was fog it looking for vacuum leaks.

Fuel tank is a fresh cleaned tank. No trash at all in the filter. I have a powersurge setup that allows me to have clear filters up range. The pressure gauge is after the PS and before the rail.

No cats.

Wouldn’t a bad O2 sensor toss a code?

To change the subject to something positive........These beauties showed up today.

@white-knuckleoffroad, thank you for supporting the 💩3FE 80’s with these works of art.

Off to powder tomorrow 💥

If I could come up with a realistic heartfelt apology that the 3FE and 80 series gods would believe I would get on my knees. Burn something. Offer a sacrifice. Something.

I told you the manifold needed powder coating, this wouldn't have happened if you did.

My high temp painted over powder exhaust covers have made it 11 miles tho

Seeing this makes me think they would fit right in with a "natural" finish. I know you're probably going to powder black, but silver works on this one.
