For the fourth of July weekend I finally took care of my vent drains, replaced the high beam switch (I think that was the culprit on the head light fuse blowing) and finished bolting in the high lift jack. I also replaced one of the optional Mag-lite clips 
Tomorrow will be tackling the thermostat and finally getting the last of the bits off the 60 (I hope) so the body can go off to recycle.
Today I also cleaned up a couple old brake cylinders. Surprisingly easy relaxing task. These are for
ride that I have not started a thread on yet. I really need to as things are taking shape a bit. I also got the rear axles seated in the axle housing after rebuilding the dif. While I was seating the wheel studs I broke on off. I couldn't believe it. Rememberd I would not be using any of the old front end bits so I will scavenge one from there....I really need to start another thread.
So sans the Hash on Sunday, I think the family will be staying home all weekend.

SO I have two complete sets of disc brakes. One MAF set (with vented rotors, these require spacers with stock wheels) and a mini truck set. (no spacers and these have backing plates.) I am going to put one set on the frame off which will be a lite trail camping truck and one set on the trail truck that has only been out of the garage a couple times.
Which set for which truck? What do you guys think and why?

They both can have vented rotors. You order a set of rebuilt Cruiser calipers from the autoparts store plus vented rotors for a Cruiser. After you have taken delivery of the parts, you return the mini calipers for your core charge. This will also let standardize your brake parts between your two Cruisers.
Otherwise, the truck that will be most likely to driven at speed should get the vented rotors. This will provide slightly better braking performance where you need it due to heat dissipation in the rotors, plus it may also help reduce the potential for warping of the rotors.

The other thing is that the truck getting the MAF set up is coarse spline and the Mini Truck is fine spline so that leans me toward putting the Toyota stuff on the trail truck and the vented stuff on the DD.

The mule is getting Toyota discs. I discovered that the passenger side upper and lower knuckle bearings were toast. I also discovered that the Toyota mini disc brakes i got were missing cone washers 
I got one side done and am waiting for a shipment from CDan since i could not find any elsewhere that weren't doin nothin. I also discovered some badly damaged spring bushings. I have those and will replace them once the other side is reassembled. I got a box from MAF today that includes nearly all I need for the Sag PS switch over. The only thing I am lacking so far is a pump mount, plumbing, a pulley and a goot welder...oh - and the freaking time!

Well fxxx. Discovered that the caliper mounting holes on the passenger side knuckle are stripped out. Got some 12mx1.25 helicoils coming. I think the threads came out with the bolts. I ran a die down the bolts to reuse them and discovered the threads clogged...pretty much with more threads.

OK - 3 days later and the caliper mounts are fixed. Ordered the HelioCoils and drill bit and they came in no time flat. Put them in this evening. Very easy and they took proper torque. I had to make a new short brake line on the drivers side as it is no longer available from the dealer (I guess I could have bought a 10" pre-made from Autozone for about $5 but what the hell - I will do that when this one leaks.) I have purchased two sets of soft brake lines and neither are correct. I need them with female threads on both sides. I think that the threads on the Toyota lines are 10m x 1.0. I may go with some aftermarket junk. May make a trip to advance or something tomorrow to see what I can find.
Once that is done, I am going to replace all the front shackle and spring bushings. I discovered a few cracked and broken. Then we will see where I am on my wobble.

I have been fxxxing around trying to find the right soft lines to go from the hard lines at the calipers to the hard lines on the axle. I wastes some cash of course but then went to a place here in Rome called Sisson Hydraulics. I did not know what to expect in getting soft lines made and had no idea what it would cost. THe place is a bit off the beaten path and when I got in there the guys seemed pretty busy but I noted they had a sign that said "We make brake lines"
After few minutes the owner got to help me and was very nice and accomodating. Made me two 12 inch lines with 10Mx1.0 female / male bubble flare inners in about seven or eight minutes and the two hoses only cost me a total of $25 and that included some new e-clips to hold them to the mounts. They fit perfectly with just a bit of effort to get the eclip seated.
When is a round I will have to get her to help me bleed the brakes and then we will see where we stand.
In other news, we built a pretty big nice block wall behind the house to replace an old rotting railroad tie wall so that has made cash tight. I will have to wait a bit for the final pieces on the saginaw set up. The last two things I need are a wide pulley, a pump mount and probably an alternator mount to move mine to the other side of the motor. I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Back on the road.
Kind of any way. I finished the mini truck swap. Too a lot longer than I thought. I posted a pick of my custom brake lines in the Guppies mini truck swap thread.:
The soft line is one of the ones I had custom made.
Still quite a wobble and I am sure it is the worn out steering gear. Soooo next is the Saginaw set up. I have everything but a pump mount, fluid lines and a pulley but money has been kinda tight so I figure those can wait. At the pace I work it will be June before I need them!

Thanks Andy. One of these days it will be on a ride! I am not looking forward to all the custom work on the Sag set up since I will need to tack everything in place and then have it welded later. I want to time it just right so the frame off H55 transmission mounts are ready for welding too so I have a bit of an effort ahead!
