With all the rain I have had a chance to do a little work on the Mule. Very little. I got the PS pump off and warrantied it. Just have to slap the replacement on.

And I forgot to add to the list above to figure out WTF is up with my headlights.

-Replace PS Pump
-Front end alignment (Just the toe which I will do myself but need to get some flat bar for that.)
-Rotate tires - I have a bent rim and a new MT to put on

Done, Done and Done.
Two M/Ts that have never been on the ground are now on the front. :steer:
Most important thing is the headlights now so I can get back on the road.

Why can't I ever come up with a good idea that will make me tens of dollars?

Picked this up at Bed, Bath and Beyond while shopping for a new comforter with the wife.

It was $13 and will clamp to about any horizontal surface.

So I think I got the lights fixed. I pulled the switch and opened it up, cleaned it, re-greased it and put it back in. Then I noted some arcing at the fuse panel. Not good right? So I took it out, took it completely apart, cleaned it, wirebrushed all the contacts and put it back together. I put dialectic grease on all the contacts and the lights have been working.

Next I booty-fabbed an insulator and a contact surface for the horn. For the contact I used the lid from a pint can of POR15 and put a piece of virgin PVC between the steering wheel and the lid. The lid touches the ground surface that connects to the wiring and is exactly wide enough to touch the copper ring on the back of the steering wheel. :hillbilly::hillbilly::hillbilly: I should have taken pics. I now have a 1972 40 with a stock steering column with an FJ60 steering wheel with working horn buttons :bounce:

I discovered my horn relay was shot. It would clunk when you pressed the switch but when I removed it and shook it, it sounded like a broken light bulb inside. I had a used one to put in the Gazoo and swapped it in. Horn!

So I test drove it and suddenly it started running rough and then crapped out as I was driving up the hill to the house. WTF? I have no idea the problem. Seemed like it was fuel starved. I took off the fuel cap, and put it back on and drove home. It did not hiss when I took it off so I am sure that was not the issue. We will see about this now. :bang:

Drove it over the weekend. Everything worked - discovered a blown fuse for the gauges. But no other issues. If the electrical system holds out for the drive to GSMTR I will be a happy man.

I still need to straighten my skid plate.

I've got a maul if you need to try and straighten it. :(
