by the time you decide to move that engine to the new frame I would like to see the turbo / SC arrangement ..
Did you have any idea on boost numbers .?
I do believe we maxed boost out at around 20psi. Over boosting this motor is one way to kill it. I do have a boost controller (in cab) that is not set up yet. I do not have a boost gauge on the motor yet or an EGT gauge. Ports are there though and ready to hook that stuff up.
Here are a few more pics of the motor showing turbo and super charger. The turbo as mentioned is a Garret T3 but we had it built to our specs, ie boost at low rpm's. From what I can tell so far it seems to be boosting at about 1200rpms. The S/C boosts from idle. Driving it I notice the best power band is in the 1500-2500rpm range but it will pull awesome from under 1,000 too!
I have posted this picture before but you can see the path of the air into the motor in this picture. It is; air filter to turbo, turbo to top mount I/C, top mount to S/C, S/C to front mount I/C, front mount to intake!
Last bit, I am pretty amazed so far at how cool things on this motor seem to run. I only have a coolant temp gauge right now but I have not seen it crack 190. I can touch the oil cooler after a drive and it is warm but not scolding hot. I can grab any of the I/C hoses even the one right next to the turbo and they are cool to the touch. I am itching to put an EGT gauge and also an oil temp gauge on it to really see what it is doing. I would also really like to know what kind of difference there is with the electric fans on or off.
Just had the truck warmed up nicely and drove it around the property. You can touch the turbo and also the dump, while hot they are nowhere near as hot as I would expect. I know, I know...a drive around the yard is not going to put much load on things but still, just saying! Perhaps all the ceramic coating done is paying off!?
Also noticed by looking closely at the engine, the drive gear assembly for the oil pump is not just full of oil, it is lubed just like the rest of the engine via the custom oiling system. That is pretty awesome!
