We drove the minivan north with the 2 stupid mutts and a pile of gear. The shipper made it to Maine with no drama. I got to work removing the functional but ugly besttop. Then introduced Little Red to the Maine coast.

Probably completely obvious, but the full name of this sweet rig will now have to be Little Red Lobster.

Maine thing. 😃

Must be pronounced "Lobstah", like a true Mainah

Out and about on a gorgeous day.

What brand and size tires are you running? They look great.
Maxxis Bighorn 30x9.5. I've had good luck with Maxxis. They tend to run big, true to size vs say bfg. I like the older school tread pattern on these for the old trucks. Plus, C rated means lighter and less punishing on a light vehicle. I'm happy with them.

Long run of gorgeous weather continues. Hiking in the park today

Put a new receiver hitch on to haul my bike around. Thanks @65swb45

In other news, looks like there is a cousin of the lobster inbound shortly 🐖

Which bike rack are you going to use? If possible, when you get a chance, could you post a pic w/ the bike rack installed with a bike on it? I need to do this as well and was curious about how if would fit given the spare.
I use a 1up rack. 1 Up USA. Modular, super high quality, made in USA. Expensive and worth it. The receiver mounting is adjustable, so there is some ability to position it out farther than the racks that use the pin.

Hanging out with the British cousin today. "She's ugly as sin, but a sweet gal. And a HELL of cook!". Lobster may have a rustoleum paint job, but someone painted the series with a broom.

Teaser. Working on a stablemate for the Lobster. Surf and turf (sort of)

Congrats on retirement. Where are you moving to in Maine? We had a lay over in Bangor on our way to the sandbox and got to see the very cool troop reception hallway at the airport. It’s the largest collection of military coins I’ve seen. I was also able to trade patches with one of the guys at the AF unit there.

I grew up in Bar Harbor Maine, on the coast 42 miles from Bangor. I'm here now, on terminal leave with an official 01JULY retirement date. So, I've flown in and out of BGR forever. It really is an amazing troop stop, and impressive how long it has lasted. Closed right now with the Covid madness, but I imagine it will come back. Stay safe.

Been plugging away at a set of 1978 disc brake axles for an upgrade. I should have grabbed a picture of this pile before digging in. Filthy job, but parts are inbound from @cruiseroutfit. That includes a new set of relay, tie and drag links with TRE to upgrade the tiny and unobtainium 61 TREs. @Rainman is making me up a new set of brake lines. One of the pinion seals is leaking like crazy, so that's making me want to send it off to Zuk for a rebuild.

Carb is on its way back from MarkA @65swb45. He said there were some very odd rebuild choices by the prior owner. Float hung by a finishing nail, missing power jet, some deeper poorly done voodoo that he described but exceeded my ability to follow. Should be a big improvement over the richly running carb on the Lobster now.

BTW, anyone out there have the flange to flange distance for a stock 3 speed and later offset rear axle? I'll be switching from the early centered diff and would like to get a jump on the driveshaft. Probably Tom Woods (insert flames about 1310 u-joints here). Thanks!

Yes, exactly. The measurement I'll need to have a driveshaft made. Thanks!
