Great to hear! Hey Brett!

What's even crazier is that truck was originally sold new in AZ! Then it went to CO, then to NH in the late 90s. And now it's back!

I agree with @yotadude520. Brett (@shellb) is an awesome seller and was super considerate during our transaction.

Gotta love the way mud brings good folks together. I bought the Softopper for my son's 81 that we picked up a few years back while living in Colorado. Funny thing is we bought the truck from the original owner (94,000 original miles) who literally lived right up the road from Brett!

KLF are you doing up your 200?

Yup. ARB drawers installed, rear bumper is done. Just ordered all the stuff for dual battery setup this week.

I loved that old truck, but this Cruiser is a terrific beast. Don't think I could go back to a 22RE now that I've been spoiled with this V8.

Hold on really quick! I have stuff I’m sure!

I’ll keep sending you it as I find...

I ended up selling the soft top to @213_dan when @yotadude520 passed on it.

This truck literally ended up in both AZ and TX from CO!!

I’ll keep a lookout for whatever you send my way!! I did already have the rear window replaced with the windshield so no sweat there.

By the way BOLO for your plates and that barrio blonde coming your way! I also threw in a specialty from Arizona too! I think you’ll love it!

Rocinante is nice, but doesn’t compare (in my eyes) to your new ride! And don’t sweat the YJ. You KNOW you made the right call here!

Thanks very much! It was a no brainer. I loved my YJ and I poured my heart and soul into it but I would give anything to own this truck and dont regret it one bit. She’s onto a better home where it gets used and I got my dream truck so everyone wins!

I have my 100 series and 2014 Dodge Cummins too, so it’s easier to enjoy the old school rigs like your old truck and my new to me 4Runner with the “backup”. Are you going to do suspension etc?

YD520: what size tires are on the red truck? It’s making me feel better about my red 4Runner. I was hating the color, but seeing the big pics of yours has me plotting and scheming again. It has my favorite OEM wheelson it too.

The truck is running 285/75/16 tires on it, basically skinny 33’s!

Are you doing a build thread on your 4Runner? I’d like to check it out!

Wow!! That is a really nice truck. Much nicer than my 1980 was!

So happy that you’re able to continue on with this truck and share with the community again. I did a terrible job at that!

I’ll also echo how easy the transaction was from my side as well!

You were great and your enthusiasm for the old girl was amazing. It found a perfect home! I too love meeting mud members it’s the community that makes us unique!

Looking forward to staying I touch!

Brett

That blue truck is awesome! Can’t wait to see pics of the topper on it. Lucky kid!

Thank you as well for the easy transaction! What a great group of people!

That’s the perfect size. I put a call in to my Toyo rep (who owes me a favor) to see what 33x10.50-15s would cost me in the MT, and if it’s too much, I’ll ditch the new 15” wheels and tires that came on mine and go to 285/75-16s in whatever I can find a deal on that is off-road worthy.

I haven’t started a build thread yet, as I have a customers Airstream to finish by Jan 15th, and all I’ve done to the 4Runner is trans shifter bushing, dash lights and buy a used front fender. Once I have time to do some more work to it I’ll do one. The only pic I took from MY trip home (all 2 miles of it!)...

Can't wait to see the truck in person and shellb, that avi is awesome.

I'm hoping to make it to the next trail run so we can see it in action!

I’m sure @KLF covered it in his thread, but what is the source for the sliders? Vendor, custom?

As Ken wrote it himself they are "KLF brand". Here's a couple pics of them:

I have to say they are extremely well made and very practical. The rear hoop on the back makes a nice step to use as you're grabbing things out of the toolbox or out of the bed, and the grip tape on the top makes for a nice touch!

I had a friend with a bender make all the bends to my dimensions, then I did all the cutting, fitting, and welding. They were a lot of work but I enjoyed the project.

The piece of bar stock inside the "kicker" has holes specially sized for ratchet strap hooks.

Seller kept the soft top? Looks pretty good with it in the first pic.

At any rate, congrats: you now own 50% of my two favorite trucks on Mud.

Thanks for the compliment! Believe it or not I bought Rocinante about a year after checking out @KLF ’s truck at a yankee toys event. I wish I could have found a red extra cab, it was my first choice.
