Thanks. It's good to see that a lot of the mods I did are still there. Gauges on the dash. CB in the low console. Locker switches. That list is actually my writing from when I sold it in 2017.

Someone here can relay your comments.Wow. It's *almost* worth getting a FB account so I can post something there...
Again, almost all of the text in that description is my writing, from my original For Sale document in 2017.
I was thinking about detailing the past history, claiming ownership/credit for all the mods, with a "let me know if you have any questions" thing.Someone here can relay your comments.![]()
I miss it too! Glad to see it's in good hands again though and back in the Mud family. The factory temp gauge never worked right the entire time I owned that truck. I did swap the sender once but it didn't help, so it must be the gauge. The Autometer gauge is a mechanical one, very accurate. It was a huge PITA to install, due to the large bulb at the end and the thin fragile capillary tube that can't be cut or disconnected.
I don't remember the thermostat temp, but I believe it is the lower of the two available.
There are no brake wires near the shifter. Check the fluid level in the reservoir. The spring in the e-brake handle may be getting weak.
There was no AC in the truck when I sold it, that was Will's project. I will say when I bought it in 2001, it had the factory R12 system that worked amazing, it would make the windows sweat on a humid day. Unfortunately it developed a leak that I was never able to fix, so I yanked it all out.
I had plans and most of the parts to install OBA with a York, which is why there is an air pressure gauge in the dash panel, but not hooked up.
Does the remote locking system still work?
I am not a fan of the roll bar and lights, but it's not my truck anymore. Congrats, and best of luck. Please reach out if you have any questions. I miss that truck, for sure.
The day I bought it in 2001:

I will say that the power was lacking. It struggled to get up to 70mph and would only go faster than that if I was going downhill or down wind. I own a FJ60 so not familiar with these 22RE engines but not sure if that is normal.

Especially lifted ~3", running on 34" tires. Diffs are regeared to 4.88's, but that doesn't do anything for the physics of spinning larger tires, which takes more energy. That sounds about right for 2,366 cc's of raging hamster power giving it its all!![]()

Even despite a full rebuild with slightly over pistons, it's a tired engine. I was actually starting to make plans to swap it out for a 1uz 4.0 V8, but just decided to send it to retirement and enjoy the 3ur 5.7 in my 200 series instead.
i seriously cringe every time someone says they are driving one of these over 80mph.I'll give it a little more credit, I routinely got the old gal to 90 and above (going downhill of course)
Yeah there's no way I'd feel comfortable above about 75 in that truck.i seriously cringe every time someone says they are driving one of these over 80mph.![]()
or im just jealous that my hilux would only do 80 if it fell out of an airplane
