It's ok. Only a few lanes, so there can be a wait on weekends. They do have a couple of plinking lanes with the metal plates, which is cool. No membership required, which is nice.

Between school and work, I found a few spare minutes to stipple my S&W M&P40 FS. The grip dramatically improved.

Dope. That took some patience.

Went to Firepower last night to continue breaking in the Kahr P380. No pics. Interesting fact: Winchester white box 95g poked round holes, but Blazer 95g tore ragged holes in well over 50% of the shots. Also, that tiny gun gets FILTHY damn fast.

Especially with Winchester White Box. That stuff shoots great but it is dirty in every caliber I have fired with it.

Nah, I had to work, was just curious where you went! I haven't been to PDHSC yet. Worth the trip?

I know and have shot with the owners and their son at IPSC/USPSA matches, they are really good people. The son (Chris) is a very high level competitor, shoots National/International level matches and was on the "Top Shot" TV show.

It's a good place to site in, test fire, practice in the lanes, they also have the "interactive" range where they host IDPA practices on Thur evenings and host a match there on the 4th Sat every month. There is a additional fee to use that range although I've not rented it in many years. It's my go to indoor range, I've not been able to get to the Wake County range for their required intro course...

I have no experience with the AR platform or it's ammunition. I have been reading about this ban and it scares me. This is not about a specific ammunition as much as it is about a POTUS that is out of control. This man seems to be a master of illusion. He holds out items he well knows will attract the attention of the public while tearing down our basic rights behind the curtain. If you think that this one ban is it you are kidding yourself.

Accepting this type of behavior is something we all will pay for in the future. Those of us in the middle will foot the bill, take a look at health care for an idea of how it works. You buy it and prove it or you pay a penalty, no no not a tax, a penalty. Yet the poor still get theirs for free and those of us in the middle continue to pay for it like we have been for years. All the while those in office running this country get theirs paid for by us for a lifetime once they are in office long enough (I do not know the time required)

This same program will work for gun control as well. We all know that gun control itself will be nearly impossible to implement and sustain, but controlling the ammunition has been in place since Obama came into office. They can not stop the manufacturers from producing the ammunition (yet). So they do the next best thing, they buy it up themselves. This drives up the price of what is left over for the rest of us. Remember a brick (500) of 22L for $19.99 at Walmart about 6 years ago?

I fear this is simply the opening volley of a POTUS that is a lame duck and has nothing to lose.

My guess is that no POTUS in our history as a country has ever aided the gun industry and lobby more than the current. He is a common enemy that the total ecosystem rallies against, and anything he says or does drives millions into the industry through fear of loss.

However, if he ever does get something like this 5.56 ammo ban through, wow . . .

The police gain no tactical advantage if this round is removed. Two more FMJ rounds will replace it due to demand and they will be just/almost as deadly. So dumb - - has to be just the beginning to a long-term "negotiation" of further bans.

Anyone know if the black tip are already banned? Those are actually the "true" armor piercing.

I have read the ATF proposed framework and I believe the answer on Black Tip is that it is not currently banned. The LEOPA passed in 1986 was focused on armor piercing ammo intended primarily for handguns and provided for the ability to exempt rifle ammo. Ss109 and M855 green tip was specifically granted an exemption from the AP definition in 1986. .30M2AP ammo was granted an exemption in 1992. I see no reference to M995 black tip 5.56 in the ATF proposed framework but it is safe to assume that if it is not already banned, it will fall under the proposed framework.

Wow - I didn't expect that thorough of an answer! :) Thanks,

No worries. When it comes to this stuff, I distrust all media outlets and hunt for the source documents ;)

The Gun thread, once again, needed a bump.

This is about as sad as it gets but I still enjoyed myself. Had scratches and wear on my 1974 Glenfield Model 60. In addition, I had much rather see wood grain, uneven blemishes and all, rather than have it covered up with heavy pigment stains .... so did some stripping, sanding, more stripping, more sanding, rubbing, and polishing. Still needs to be re-blued but it's a good idea for me to remember this is a $150 gun. Sad it is Birch and not Walnut but much happier with the look.

Nice work!

Sad is that I had the Win 71 I have been looking for for quite a while in my hands today and had to let it go since my job ends March 31.

It was a low 2 digit serial number (first week of production in 1936), deluxe model with a period correct Lyman peep. It had light wear from honest use so I would not have felt bad about using it. No pics at the owners request, but it was gorgeous ... And is probably gone by now. :(
