Its not in their contracts its just a sort of unspoken rule, gentlemans agreement, honor system all that BS. They can go wherever they want though. I'm not saying hes a great coach although he built Miami back up and he's starting to do it at UNC he just never stayed long enough to get the Championship which is probably the thing to worry about.

How can you possibly consider that a lateral? Lets look at the list I gave again:

-If we pay him more thats clearly better. If they match then its a push.
-Football is clearly #1 at Clemson and not at UNC so thats a point for Clemson
-Our program is loaded with talent that Tommy couldnt produce with definitely more talent then at UNC right now, point Clemson
- Bigger stadium by like 20,000+ seats even if UNC ads the addition they will still be behind. Point Clemson
- We just upgraded all our practice facilities so they are high quality, UNC has good facilities to so this one might be a push.

So again how can you say its a lateral?

Yep, I understand your points and factually wouldn't argue with any of them. I just don't see those bullets being important enough to jump ship at a great school where you are completely worshipped, loved and supported by everyone and your upside it still significant.

Everyone knows that no matter who fills the head coaching spot at CU, that sometime in the near future, after a bad loss or two, a slow start, even an underwhelming performance, there will be a certain part of the Clemson faithful who will be screaming for heads to roll yet again. Tough to satisfy a fan base whose expectations are routinely overambitious and irrational at best.

I don't really care either way. You aren't exactly looking at this (Clemson vs UNC) from an unbiased perspective you have to admit.

I'd guess Butch's take would be a little bit different from yours.

He would be worshipped loved and supported here too, until he drove the most talented team in the ACC into mediocrity at which point he too would be justifiably fired. I wouldn't say our expectations are overambitious or irrational though particularly not the last few yrs. We have come into the last few seasons with as much or more talent than any other team in the ACC and with the expectation of going to the ACCCG and have failed to do anything with the talent. I dont see how thats overambitious or irrational. Of course I am looking at the BD situation from a biased perspective but my points were perfectly logical and like you said "I wouldn't argue with any of them" so clearly I turned down the orange tint on my glasses for this one.

This should get the irony of the year award. Good job Richard your 0-2. Maybe you should start looking for another sport to do predictions on. Maybe flag football or frisbe golf.

Proper football smack should be done more like this Marshall:

First I post this article from rivals which shows UNC down at 47th and USC sitting 20 spots ahead of them at 27th.
Rivals.com College Football - Rivals.com 1-120 preseason rankings countdown
Then you ask where Clemson is and I tell you thet have only gotten to 22nd and since were are ranked way higher than that we arent up yet.

Next I post comments like these from ESPN,
'The Tar Heels still lack overall depth and seem like they're a year or two away from being a legitimate contender for the ACC title"

"There is no doubt, however, that the Tigers have the best group of talent in the ACC's Atlantic Division, which has about six more contenders for the league title than the weaker Coastal Division(doesnt UNC play in the Coastal?). Clemson has the league's top returning quarterback in Cullen Harper; the top returning tailback in James Davis; and the top returning wide receiver in Aaron Kelly"

Last but not least the ubiquitous photo of some UNC guy getting hosed by a Clemson guy,

Preseason all everything team - Clemson :bounce2:
Preseason all joke fo a team - tie USC - UNC

Seriously though UNC might get a bowl game this yr, whats that one out in San Francisco like the sweaty nuts bowl or something. That sounds about right for them.

I hope USC does beat UGA then I hope they lose to Wofford the next week.

Lol:beer::beer::beer:

poor Richard

I tried to give up a sure thing
and ya failed to show faith in
Dabo's lads and wanted points.
OK take the points but post
the # before kick off. Uh oh.
No post no bet and just think
it was a sure thing without the
points. Sorry pal.
I'll find ya another sure thing
before the season is over.
How about I take the points
in the monster beat down Fla
puts on USC next week?
Damn them Gators look good:eek:
Hell I bet the line will about 30
points. Po ol Lamecocks ain't
got a prayer of a chance to cover
the spread.
When the spread comes out I'll
post for your consideration.
Or, I'll take FSU over CU no points.
Tigers looked pretty good today.
Thunder and Lighting returned.

Yeah David I never got back online man, it was a sure thing though BC was favored by 4 last I saw, I knew it was gonna be close even if we didn't win so that would have been a good one. Lets see the spread on UF and USC I will probably be up for that one who knows what the CU v FSU spread is gonna look like at this point not sure we could trust it.

Ever wondered how you could tell if your schools college football program is a joke? Well I have figured it out, you know your program is a joke when losing to you results in the opposing Head Coach being fired after that weekend. 2 examples from this yr, USC beats UT this past Sat. and Phat Phil is gone ESPN - Sources: Tennessee Volunteers coach Phillip Fulmer agrees to step down Wake beats Clemson and Tommy is gone. So if the head coach gets fired 2 days after you beat him you now know that your a joke in college football and other teams expect to beat you regularly, losing to you is unacceptable.

No Richard your team is a joke when you fire your coach 1 year after you resign him to a multi million dollar 6-7 year extention.:flipoff2:

No, 1 bad decision by your crappy AD does not make you a joke, years of cellar dwelling in your conference so that other teams expect to beat your every time makes you a joke.

That bad decision cost you how many millions of dollars?

And I wasn't just talking about CU. UT was just as stupid.

Maybe you and Nate need to start hanging out.

Yes, UNC has been known for having a bad football program. We let one good coach get away. I doubt we will let that happen again.

That was a big screw up on CU's part.

The CU Athletic Dept forks over big bills to get Tommy out of the picture and at the same time academic departments are cutting positions due to hard economic times. I know the Athletic and Academic departments are separate but good grief Charlie Brown - that is just embarrassing.

PS: go Clampsin!

State pays for prof's rich alum's pay for coaches. Have a problem with prof's getting kicked to the curb talk to your representative. I honestly would have paid twice that to get rid of him at this point. I dont think its embarassing from that standpoint though. Its more embarassing that we kept him so long and gave him an extension last yr. His buyout and prof's are so totally unrelated that I dont think that really matters though.

PS I'd argue Clemson showed up for about 3 quarters Chuck. it was still a game until then.
