Rocky top, you'll always be
Home sweet home to me.
Good ole rocky top,
Rocky top Tennessee,
Rocky top Tennessee!!!!

Good teams (see the opposite of Clempson) find a way to get it done and get to their conference championship game. Yet again Clempson and the Cocks fold like a $5 Blue Light Special lawn chair from K-Mart at by the end of the season. However I have to give it to the Cocks....how you go from #6 in the country to fighting for a bowl game is beyond me. Congrats on that one . Cheer up Tiger fans Tommy "Tampon" Bowden did just enough to get his contract extension!! You can look forward to the easiest schedule in the country, big let downs, bowl games before December 31st, 7-9 win seasons (that 10th win is hard to get), and not getting over that hump. Oh yeah and not getting back to that conference championship you haven't sniffed since his pops joined the conference and Richard was still wearing pullups back in 1991.

Per your previous post Richard....UGA could lose 2 games and you could win your bowl game and you still wouldn't be ranked ahead of them. Also you won't be playing on new years. Your best draw will be the Peach and that's on December 31st. Most likely you will have to face Arkansas or Auburn which doesn't bode to well for the kitties. If you play Arkansas you will get a chance to see what a real backfield looks like (although we smacked the crap out of them).

Well I have to go get ready to drink some beers and prep myself for the smackdown we are going to put on those cajuns in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta. Yes I went to a school that has history, tradition, and knows how to play football so Richard, JP, and Chuck....in the words of a brilliant young man named Eric Cartman, "Suck my Ball$"!!!!!!:flipoff2:

Your team only has 1 10+ win season in its entire history. Thats like 105 years of football and 1 10+ win season. The sign in your locker room would probably say something like "60 minutes from a 4 win season". After last yr I thought I might give Wake just a little shred of respect then I realized, you only have 7 Bowl Games in your entire history, that puts you on the same level as South Carolina. :flipoff2:

The University of North Carolina has played in 24 postseason bowl games, including eight in the last 11 years heading into the 2003 season. The Tar Heels are 12-12 all-time in bowl games and are 6-2 since 1990.

UNC is second behind Clemson in bowl appearances among schools that were charter members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the Tar Heels have the most appearances of any charter school since the league was formed in 1953.

Just because you played in a bowl doesn't mean you are any good. Just means you met the criteria of slightly above sucking and have delusional fans that are willing to go watch you lose.

Chick-fil-A bowl got to pick which day they wanted and they didn't want to play on News Years Day. Read the stats on those bowls, I think you would appreciate the "Peach Bowl" a little more. After all, you should. They respect the Vols. alot, and would prefer to have them over most of the SEC teams.

We could play in the Gator bowl, or if all the right teams lose, might could swing a BCS bowl. The CF bowl gets first ACC pick after the BCS. So you do the math, which one is better?

Am I dillusional in thinking that if:

VT- wins = 11-2
Missouri loses = 11-2
OK wins = 11-2
LSU loses = 10-3

Then that puts VT with a chance for the title over GA and OK.

Which opens the Orange Bowl up for another BCS bid, which could select Clemson?

What do you think?

Jeremy

I think that scenario puts OSU and WVU in the title game. In order for anyone other than either OSU, WVU or Missouri to play the game, WVU has to lose... and that's highly unlikely. Title game is WVU against either OSU or Missouri.

If the stars align perfectly and both WVU and Miss lose, UGA has a shot. LSU losing would guarantee UGA getting in. Go Vols... (did I just say that)

So are saying that if both VT and OK win, then the polls would vote OK? WVU wins and they are in? I guess OH would be left out?

So there is no way that VT would be in the title game?

Ahhhh yesss!! And Clempsun has a RED HOT 4 10+ win seasons over the past 20 years, 7 overall (others coming in 1948, 78, & 81), zero in the past 10 years. Those are some numbers to be proud of though. Seven 10+ winning season puts you at #53 all time in the NCAA. You also have been to 29 bowl games!! Wow!! #20 all time in the NCAA. Yup....you sure do cheer for a powerhouse with tons of history and Clempsun fans have every right to talk $hit Richard.:flipoff2:

FYI....just thought you may say something funny or inquire............
The Volshave 19 seasons with 10+ wins ranking them #8 all time in the NCAA, 10 of them in the past 20 years, 5 in the past 10 years. Been to 46 bowl games which is #2 all time tied with Texas behind Alabama who is #1. So go ahead....rabble..rabble..rabble :flipoff2:. Oh yeah....you also had a 7 year streak of making it to bowl games (#41 all time 1985-2001) which is nice. UT had a respectable 16 year streak (#7 all time) but I honestly think Clempsun's program is on the same level as UT's.:hillbilly:

nate since you are on a role........ how about posting up all those stats for wake forest; so we can shut your brother up about LOWF and their cinderella season last year.

oh and GO LSU........ it is going to be a long day for you Sat. nate

Go back and read my threads. I have never stated that Wake has a long and decorated history on the gridiron. I never presented our program as something it isn't.

What I have been saying is that after last year's historic success (for Wake), we followed with a pretty solid season that shows we weren't / aren't going to be a one hit wonder. What the alumni, fans and players hope is that we're building something sustainable that will allow us to more effectively compete on the big stage, year in and year out, while being in the top 3 smallest D1 schools / smallest BCS school. It's unique and if we can sustain the ability to compete, while maintaining the standards and values that make Wake what it is, it will be great.

Of course, it's not life and death and it's only a game after all. Our expectations most likely won't ever be like Clempsun where we feel like we should be crowned national champion, every year, before the first ball is put into play. :grinpimp:

After all, if you would have asked me to bet on Wake putting together back to back seasons that included:

- A potentially 20-7 record, will 6-2 and 5-3 conference records
- An invitation to a BCS bowl, right behind the national championship in terms of stature
- Consecutive bowl appearances (yes, another dubious record for Wake :D)
- Loads of conference and national honors, recognition and awards for the players, coaches and program

I wouldn't have taken that bet under any conditions.

Yes, this success is new but Grobe is building a program that while the prospects of winning 10+ games and going to a BCS bowl every season isn't likely, the days of being at the bottom of the pile are over, at least for now.

And you'll never shut me up, much stronger people than you have tried and never succeeded! :flipoff2:

While we are making comparisons. I think it is unfair to compare any teams record in SC to a NC or TN teams since those are long skinny looking states and SC is a short dumpy one.

Lets look at apples to apples.

Playing in bowls has a relationship to the quality of your program. Those stats prove UNC used to be halfway decent back in the day, course there were a lot less teams back then and they didnt care about basketball as much.

Right. You have won 2 out of the last 9 bowl games in 11 years. Thats not saying much.

UNC went to 6 bowls in the past 11 years and won 5.

I feel like it is almost reaching man wrestling level in here............ to bad Steve isn't a real Clemson fan he would have already whopped up on all you guys :flipoff2:

and why does it feel like Clemson vs. everyone else

All in good fun. :flipoff2:

Good thing Marshall made these separate threads or noobs checking out the club would probably run for the hills.

Membership would be plummeting instead of rocketing!!

yep all in good fun.......... I am just said that the season is pretty much done............ can't wait until fall next year when Clemson will be a preseason favorite for the national title and Cullen harper will be the front runner for the heisman :grinpinp:
