The Elusive Black Manual 62 Style Mirrors Are Real

I've had 70 series mirrors on both 60s for about a decade. These mirrors were take-offs from mine trucks. Mounting was as easy as take off the vestigial stock 60 series mirrors and replace with 70 series. No mods needed, screw holes in mirror bases are the same. Door contours between 60s and 70s are different and due to this there is a very small gap between the mirror base and the door. It's not that noticeable and having good mirrors outweighs the small gap.

Dude. How embarrassing.

In my excitement, I didn't check that the part numbers did not match.

I thought they sent me these.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!!

Unless someone has a 3D printer to make a custom gasket it's back to square one.

Sorry Everyone.

Valiant effort and enthusiasm in search of unicorn OEM Land Cruiser parts.

Your efforts should at least be commended.

Onur-

What about the 62 mirrors - I mean, can't the housings be PC'd black to rid the chrome if that's the look someone wants? Are the housings metal or plastic?

Also - I can't believe one of our resident engineers haven't designed a gasket for the 70 to 60 conversion, or maybe dismantle/figure a way to combine the mounting end of the 62 with the mirror end of the 70.

After I win the power ball this weekend - I'll source a designer, make the mold, and sell them at a great loss to all of our MUD members =)

(above) except for K. . .he'll have to work for his set: Dress, wig, sedative, blanket release of liability statement, etc., lol.

That's what I did. I bought new chrome FJ62 manual mirrors and painted them black.

:meh:

kewl - r the bodies metal? If so, they can be powder coated; if not, paint it is!

ps - sending you a PM about something regarding something else, lol.

.

There has to be a way to combine the bottom of a 62 gasket and the top of a 70 gasket and 3D print it?

From what I've seen, you can't put a 7x mirror on a 6x base. (I'm talking Euro style)
I've had a couple 7series from late 80a, but none had the same base mount, and they were never convex.
Even the patrol has better view in the side mirrors...and the rav4... Even Citroen! Dammit...

Lesson learned: When Beno says NLA the part is NLA!

Then I think you need to post pictures and info... or it didn't happen.
I shall oblige shortly, please bear with me, I cannot deny the request of a Gentleman who uses Mondrian as a profile pic.
