Try as I might I couldn't get a bottle of this yesterday.... I got there in the pouring, freezing rain yesterday morning at 7am and they had already handed out 150 wristbands. They said we still had a chance to get one but alas, that didn't happen. all 2000 bottles disappeared before my turn came around. I did however have it on tap and it is by far the best bourbon aged beer i've had. Most bourbon aged beers fall flat to me as they don't so much as try to infuse bourbon with beer but just make a bourbon tasting beer. This one hit the mark and i'll be back next year to try and get my case of bottles.... but they said they will only do about 1/2 the amount next year so it will be up to me to up my game. :)

I love that Dogfish 61 - have been waiting for it to come back out this season...

love that fresh hop, hows the fathom??

The fathom was really good. Nice hoppy note but distinctly different and more drinkable than a similar IPA

Went to Draft Line Brewery in Fuquay-Varina last weekend.
  • Singlepath IPA had a nice mix of hops, highlighted by some very aromatic citrus type. However, this beer was just way overhopped, almost like how far they could go and still be able to pour it. Will not have another.
  • Graf Pale Ale was outstanding - just hoppy enough for me, nice balance of hop varieties, very easily drinkable and enjoyable. I didn't get the fruity stuff they said was in it, which is a Good Thing. Going back for a growler of this one.

And what'd you think, Al?

I think as a PA I liked the Graf better, the single path was good but not as good as an IPA as the Graf was of a PA.... if that makes sense.

I also tried their octoberfest on the recommendation of the bar tender but it wasn't that great. I have heard their scotch ale is great but didn't have time to try it.

Tetter in Cornelious had a couple of Troegs beers in the case. This is the first time I've seen this beer this far South. I picked up their Troegenator double boch. It is a pretty sweet tasting porteresque flavor for those who haven't had a double. They are an excellent brewery out of PA and I hope to see more of their beers in the future.

they landed in my teeter a few weeks back and I saw them at the good bottle co. Haven't tried them yet but they have sparked my interest

Had the same three and missed the scotch as well. Couldn't have summed it up better.

As to troegs. I picked some perpetual ipa up for the mountain run and really liked it.

Also got a chance to finally try this NODA hop drop n roll ipa after seeing for about a year and somehow avoiding. Tasty stuff!

I think that or Jam Session won an award at the world beer finals

Next is Schells Arminus (a hoppy pale lager)

Kind of a strange taste that lingers but a good taste at the same time.
