The initial review of the FJ80 3FE fan clutch is good. A lot heavier and way more air at idle.

It’s audibly louder and you can feel the air coming off the radiator like never before.

Temperatures here in Texas are mild right now, but I’m really hoping that the ac works a little better due to better heat exchange across the condenser and that the idle temps stay at the thermostat opening temp for longer.

I used the aisin fct049 for $121 from rock auto from a 91 FJ80

Hopefully, that fan clutch doesn't offset all your H.P. gains from the red intake hose.

Surprised you went with heater hose. I dig the options for silicone with the 45* bend. Plus it is far more rigid.

Heater hose? It’s actually just brake duct hose from a Racecar. A lot of cars used it as the duct work to the low pressure side of the turbo since it can handle vacuum and not collapse.

Complete overkill but for me it’s always function over form.

yea it’s also heater hose on 911s, haha. I ran it on mine. Just curious since it’s rather loose ball something more rigid and...attractive :)

This makes sense! I was watching hoonigan last night where Vinny Antara did the exhaust on his 911 and they mentioned all that...

I’ve had a huge problem with anything rubber cracking and falling apart in the engine bay of this truck. The heat must be too much. I crack the rubber vacuum nipples in about 6 to 8 months. I’m converting it all to high temp silicone.

that's just because of cheap rubber. That being said i have not been able to find vacuum caps that last longer then a year.

We need numbers!

My McMasterCarr silicone vacuum hose has been great at 6 years since the desmog.

Sorry...stepped out after I posted.

This is the vacuum port toyota notes for the carb base:
90339-03005

The following I haven't tried but are other options:

90339-03002 - 3mm
90339-07016 - This is either 5mm or 8mm...I forget.

Another fun one:
Single port gas filter: 90917-11022
Dual port gas filter: 90917-11023

I'll order a couple up tomorrow and tell you what is best, it's been a while and didn't manage to save the exact numbers I used.

The next major upgrade is coming. I’ve got an 80 series free float axle that’s going in. It’s a non locker axle from a 200k rolled truck.

I’ve already ordered the following:

BMT090 fzj80 non abs master cylinder from @Racer65
ABS delete plugs from @NLXTACY
Spring perches from ruffstuff
New ds bolts and nuts for the t case output studs (might as well)
1.5” wheel spacers for up front.

I’m getting the axle this weekend and I’ll work with @samc2447 to cut down the stuff I don’t need from the 80 series mounting points and fab up sway bar mounts. Then we will work on getting it in sometime in February. I’m going to build up one of my spare center sections with what will most likely be a Harrop/Eaton e locker.

I’m done with my ARB air locker dreams. The dang compressor gave out, and while ARB hasn’t said they won’t fix it or send me the parts to fix it, it’s taken a long time and money on my part to trouble shoot it for them over a distance. A $300 compressor should last more than 20 times.

I’m excited about the 4.11 gears and discs. This truck has been running great in the cooler weather and some extra torque to the ground won’t hurt.

I’m still loving my km3 tires. 5k on them since September.

We’re doing something similar on a friends HZJ76 right now. Removing the stock rear houding and installing a stripped FZJ80 FF rear along with a Harrop locker.
We cut all the brackets off the houding yesterday and we keep the Ruffstuff perches in stock. Need to install the new rear springs and it’s time for mock-up.
Looking forward to your progress pics. Let me know if we can help with anything.
