CO trip eh?

I couldn’t do it for SAS. The truck was in really bad shape and I had 3 days to get ready after 47 days out of the country.

I had to replace tires and fix a badly leaking exhaust/intake leak.

My favorite picture of the truck so far.

The love affair with this rust box is real.

Snake blinders begging for mercy.

Great shot.

I’d be fibbing if I didn’t admit that there may be a zip tie or two holding them on.

Not much to report. New head unit by clarion, m508. Great because it’s visible in daylight.

Added the midland gmrs in the ashtray spot. I’m really happy with that over CB.

Maybe a dumb question, but with the gmrs I assume the other parties involved would be required to have the same radio?

Just the same style, not the same model. We used 4 gmrs radios on this last Colorado trip and they worked amazing. We had miles of distance on the highway.

I’ve been driving it a ton. Pretty uneventful really...

I need to do some maintenance:

Oem accessory drive belts
Oem fuel filter
M1 15w50 Oil change and 15600-41010 filter
FJ80 3FE fan clutch
NGK plugs and Denso wires
Denso air filter

I also need to replace my hose for the canister to carb hat, as I have melted the hose twice. I’m going to replace it with a smooth bore brake duct hose in 2 ply. Shouldn’t be an issue again.

My ARB air compressor died after 3 years. They are really helpful with parts and diagnosis but I’m not happy with it not working.

I just crossed 326,000 miles. I’m driving it daily for work without issue. It’s not the fastest thing on earth but it gets me there.

I also came into another huge stash of big filters that I’ll be selling again soon.

Those 16" wheels are really growing on me... I see them in my future ;)

Is the 80-series fan clutch installed yet, or upcoming?

thanks! I love em. I’m really digging the narrow look and the e rated tires with 40 psi drive great! I knocked out 600 miles of round trips the other day and they were great on the highway. I’m already due for a rotation from early September install.

The fan clutch is upcoming when I do my belts. I’m trying to improve idle cooling with the ac on. I figure a clutch from 3FE/auto from a heavier chassis will work well with what I’m doing. I’ll also be doing a replacement aisin fan blade since I ground mine up when I broke my motor mount on the trail 2 years ago.

I’m hoping it sounds even more like a ups truck now.

So your sig line says, '255/85R 15' But should be 16, yes? So essentially a 33" x 10" tire?

It’s a 16. I’ve been living a lie!

It measures to 32.8” x 9.8ish”

Small project. One less leak on this truck. This hose should outlast the truck itself.
