Any progress?

On the 73? no. not a bit.

I've been wheeling and breaking the 78 a lot this summer. It's gone through some changes.

Same here - I finally got my 40 ready to wheel after years of no wheelin & nothing but problems so far this summer. Since I already prepaid for a couple more TLCA events, I had to put the PIG on hold till I fix it  :frown:

Project FJ-50 (2 door pig)

I'm looking at bobs again. I just got a new project truck and my dd pig went out the window. I'm getting kinda tired of wheeling the rusty pig anyway. It's just looking terrible.

The new plan is to swap bodies with the project pig. I won't have to worry about rebuilding the corners, the lower quarters and the rockers if I replace them with armor. I do want to exo it to keep the straight sheet metal straight. I also want to bob it.

What I thought of today was sectioning out the rear doors and keeping the long rear glass.

Please forgive the paint chop. It was a quick a dirty for the visual.

I'd still use the rear doors, cut down, reversing the swing & making them open like suicide doors  Great

like on the mazda RX8? (that what u call them in the states?? the model with the 13B rotary??)

What Rhino said!

I did a bunch of measuring today. I pretty excited. I might just have to break out the plasma tomorrow. What'll slow me down is I want to drill the rest of the roof spot welds back of the B pillar. Then I'll separate the roof in the back to slide the sectioned part forward.

I think how I can make it work is to slide the C pillar forward 26". That'll put the C pillar 10" back from the B pillar. The rear corners will be right at the back of the rear wheel wells. In fact the inner part of the D pillar will be about and inch or so from the wheel arch inside.

Then I'm thinking of drilling loose the B pillar and moving it back to meet the C pillar and filling the gap between the two. I can stretch the door with another pair of doors I have. It'll be a big door, but I measured the door on my Tundra and on a Crown Vic we have at the shop and the new door will still be shorter than those. Maybe then I won't sit with my head looking out of the rear door window all of the time.

:smokin:
I say build the length to fit your size. Have you figured out the wheelbase yet? So will this be a 2 seater? You gonna do any drivetrain swaps or keep it stock? You could also do a targa top. I've seen a lot of great body mod :idea:s on here & this is one of the best :bounce2:
