Haven’t had much to offer on any build progress of significance of travels. had to have my trans and transfer case rebuilt. Replaced 40 pounds of worn out parts.

Second gear stopped being available. If you look at the box of well used parts the splines on the long shaft have been eaten through. The end securing nut was loose and I guess the shaft just wobbled itself to death. Also all the seals had officially petrified and oil was puking out the front of the tranny As well as draining into the transfer case.
Now I barely hear any gear noise. The quietest I have ever experienced in the three pigs and 2 fj40’ I’ve owned.

Haven’t been very productive on keeping my mistress trimmed up properly for that proper bikini exposure do to a year long difficult client project.
Fortunately end of project coincided with the Magruder PP run.
Did use someones idea (Bad memory as to who’s, maybe albq Mark) to install a cabin filter to the fresh air intake. He? Did a great job of fabricating a holder for the filter. I was in a hurry to prep for PP so I took the lazy way.
Replace the screws on the fake vent cover with thumb screws for easy access. (Used a tap to allow for 10-32 threads to work).
Fortunately end of project coincided with the Magruder PP run.

The sweet pig ran smooth and quiet. New trans and diff also smooth and quiet.
Nothing will cure the altitude 6% grades In high gear even with modern hi tech high tech components.. Put it in 3rd gear and turn on some good music, which I can actually here now.. Working on camp gear now.
Numerous camping solutions to digest:
1- long distance long stay camps: power and nutrition sustainability and luxury
2- on the go quick setup and takedown: ease of efficient essentials access
3- the blend, to be able to have the best of both worlds: find a gem of a spot and hunker down to enjoy it but be able to gas and go to get there but still eating and sleeping well during those 6 and 800 mile days that get you to the promised land hallelujah.. (sorry one of my favorite things as a kid was singing in baptist churches)
things like : I carry 16 gallons of water so why do I need to carry 4 gallons of coolant, why carry solar panels and a spare alternate (dump the alternator and coolant-save 38 lbs). Replace with 38 lbs of good whiskey
