I think these temporary CVs are a little too temporary😂
I’m going to do another pass on the shafts and if that doesn’t work I guess it’s time to go ahead and take advantage of the lathe make stub axles and go to 934s
Main reason for 934s is you can get theme everywhere, of course they are also better in everyway.
I have noticed some things are just the accepted standard. Porche CVs ford axles mustang throttle body’s and land cruisers being better than jeeps.

What he's not showing is the pile of work I brought down to him this week...
Haha was just waiting to do the comparison now that the truck is 4wd again😂

Will be doing some bumpers as well
Apparently no one liked my rear or no one saw it😂
But I have had a few people interested

I'd be interested in one possibly if you want to do more than one.

My 80 is currently bumperless. Makes getting pulled out, or pulling somebody out a bit more challenging than I like.

Glad to see another butt ugly Baby Shart colored bedliner covered 80. 😂

Hahaha😂
Yeah for sure!

Looking forward to showcasing some of your work on the white one!
What you don’t want it on the baby shart colored one?😂

The impressive part isn’t how high it is it’s how fast and stable it got up there

Temporary axles are still way too temporary
40s 4wd 10psi and concrete at steering lock isn’t nice either though probably time to actually put lights in the dash

If you want to try again and make it slightly less temporary, cut the end of your tube at a 45 degree angle (or some other angle) before welding. That way it's not a straight-line weld HAZ. Also makes more welded area, which can't hurt. :)

Yeah! Absolutely Larger cross sectional area for the shear
Another thing is they are hollow so Yeah haha I need to order some bar or something
The other thing is with the sleeves is that the ends of the axle are a larger diameter which is why I didn’t do that initially but I have an ok idea outside of just ordering a batch from trail gear

Sawzaw slipped.
Redoing the rear end to accommodate a spare, winch, nos, jack and the radiator. Going to be quite the puzzle. Getting rid of what little was left of the body in the rear bumper area. Doing a rear rear bumper with tow points and all that

the truck is nasty dirty. Haven’t really taken many pics or done much with it outside of driving it. Damn thing is just fun and fast, controllable and smooth yet blistering.
Still a bit to do before it does a big week long wheeling trip but progress is progress. Need to get the bare minimum’s checked first

Easy part is done now to make mounts for everything💀
Trying to find a good quick disconnect for the harbor freight jack that won’t ever fail tempted to just make it bolt down via mounts for the wheels

Gotta do the radiator mounts
But everything fits and has room to function

Added some stuff, basically an overlander now
Bet it drags the floor with a full tank of gas

Floor jack on a bumper may be a first. Dig it.

Total cost to date?🥴
