Updates. Just going to order some shafts
Hopefully I found the grinding noise
Went ahead and did both sides.
Needle bearings on the front tundra diff is a common failure point.
Allegedly wheeling coming very soon haha

Bargain at twice the price

Axle shafts have been ordered
Will have to do a little machining on my end but no big deal
fj40 axles 28” and some change long have 4.75” splines on one side so I can easily take off 2” and run them
The fit on these aftermarket tundra cv axle stars to the reg Toyota 30 spline is close enough for now
I’d recon the joint to explode before the splines give out.
I’ve pretty much have asked everyone I could find but no cigar
Everyone recommends another place then they say no
RCV said yes but said 10 weeks.
And 600$ a shaft
These were 200$ a shaft said and done
And probably an hour or 2 of machining to get them right.

Love how this little bracket took 8 hours to make
A few design changes and what not
Some machining time cause why not

Axles are in
Sacrificed an inch of downtravel to make these fit but oh well I think I have some to spare.
Fixed the brake line got my ducks in a row
Now to find a decent weekend that’s not >100* F

Need to install the air filter and make an off road friendly exhaust that doesn’t catch the ground on fire.

Past that thing is ready to go break some s***😎

Welll that kinda sucked😂
Drove it for about an hour just to get a taste. Walked a cool looking hill climb after gaining my confidence in the truck, by going god knows how fast over baby heads, the battery took a s*** when I tried to restart the truck. Went ahead and got a new battery then realized the fuel pump took a s*** as well.

good news
I have a new fuel pump in my hand
And Labor Day weekend is next week And everything is already loaded up, how hard could it be?🤷‍♂️
Have an extra alternator as well
So we will see

Some trip pics
Quick run
Figured out I have too much flex in the front diff mount
It’ll get fixed but kept me from really crawling out there

Also truck was running hot
Might need to do a more powerful fan

Another clutch died. Time to build the trans with the parts I have had laying around. Thinking about just going auto to be honest😂

Trailer is wider now, no more taking off tires to go wheel life changing to be honest

Update I’m an idiot. As per usual. New China calipers I used for the hydro hand brake are sticking. Enough that I noticed on flat ground. Probably why the clutch it already dead.
Not sure if it is a problem with them or the hand brake yet.
