LS3 is a bit overkill for a turbo build in my opinion, a good used 4.8 or 5.3 with turbos will work fine and will last longer due to the less piston stroke they have. You will still be capable of far more than 1000hp with a stock bottom end if you use head studs and open up the ring gap a bit. You will need to upgrade the valvetrain if you want to rev it to 8 or 9k rpms. I personally wouldn't go for more than 700hp in a cruiser. More than 500hp personally is just showing off honestly in my opinion and for the most part useless unless you have a trophy truck.

Probably should have checked my location, and then would of known we dont get the little versions here you speak of :hmm:

For a truck that will do sub 5000 kilometres a year, I dont think downsizing to an unobtanium engine here so it "lasts longer" is a real option.

If I only wanted 500 hp I could buy an LX570 and bolt on a supercharger, but where is the fun in that, though, if a safe good tune with a couple of turbos makes an easy 800 hp, why detune it because its not a trophy truck? Doesnt make sense.

A LX is like 1500 lbs heavier than a 80, so 500hp in a 80 will feel a lot different than 500hp in a LX570. All I can say is post up video once its running. Try and keep center of gravity low as possible.

You completely missed the point on that one,

Why buy a stocker and spend half a day bolting on parts to make 500 hp, when you can engineer the complete package of what you want, how you want.....

With that kind of power and 40-42 tires and 6000lbs they better be putting on a set of Dana 80.

Very cool project but at that point it’s not an 80 anymore so....I rather have a similarly modified Jeep.
I have to agree, the beauty of an 80 is what it can do all while still keeping it an 80 I stopped at 37s and wont go past because its never not done what Ive asked it to, and I have asked a lot. JMO

Moving on, the bare bones 2 owner, never offroad, fairly unmessed with project vehicle is sitting in the drive awaiting its movement into position for progress to start, while we have a couple or #colorscheme images left.

So starting with a 95 model [ i prefer the 95 on dash] FZJ80 auto, what we would call a standard grandpa spec version, GXL, with "propane" or LPG we call it here, [liquid petroleum gas] spare on the back to make room for the lpg tank which fits in the sub tank/spare wheel location and holds 29 gal, home made roof rack, and alloy bar. Lets not mention the what ever they are supposed to be on the bullbar lights ...

Not to forget the customary carpet dash mat, drivers window weather shield, and additional cig lighter adaptor for power outlets in the cabin.

Or the standard head unit and tape player!

Looks like a good candidate. So are you guys looking to produce a LS swap "kit" for the 80 series or just building a badass truck to showcase your products? Either way...nice to see a vendor with resources and ability continue to develop parts for the 80 series!

Would like to think along with the parts like the #superslinky suspension kit, and other bits, we can build turn key set ups as well.

Having done so much of the components separate vehicles in testing, time to put it all into one.

If youre gonna do something, just go nuts with it please. Dont listen to the namby pamby folks telling you to keep it an 80 and keep rear heaters and etx. Just balls to the wall horsepower and testosterone ftw

are you keeping the lpg? Have you heard of or seen any of those PPI alloy LPG tanks that are made as a flatter rectangle shape with baffles inside? I think they were made for the flacon taxis with lpg from factory

And have to save the best with pumped fenders, and 40s until last !

With expo set up .

And cannonball desert trip set up!

I think those fenders need to be made :smokin::idea::smokin::eek::D:cool::smokin:
