Some stuff is worth keeping on the shelf. For me what makes the list are small parts that could shut down work if needed (oil drain gasket), or stuff that is cheap and might make work easier if we had a handful sitting around to be used when needed (the clips that hold the fender skirts in).

The point here is I don't want work being stopped by some $1.20 part that the dealer has a dozen of, but I don't. I found it worth the investment to stock a bunch of little things just in case they are needed.

Before I get going, I'd like to try and adhere to a format here. Please post the part, if it's not totally clear where it goes attach a pic, if possible the part number, and maybe your reasoning.

Here's my list.. feel free to add yours, just try and explain your reasoning if it's not obvious.

Oil drain gasket. 90430-12031
Super cheap.

Rear axle drain/fill gasket, also front diff fill. 12157-10010

Front diff drain gasket. 90430-24003
Also shown the "lexus IS diff drain plug" which is a great upgrade.. stock part tends to get stuck and is 10mm internal hex. PN for the plug is 90341-24016
Yes I keep a spare drain plug on hand

Transmission pan drain/check plug gasket. 35178-30010
2 needed per transmission drain/fill.

Mini truck guys change their rear axle drain plugs with these low-profile models, including magnets. 90341-18021
Same thread but I'm not sure whether there's clearance inside the transfer case for these.

2008-2015 front brake caliper bolts. 90119-A0276
These occasionally get lost or damaged, and came with me on my roadtrips. Also can be used on the rear lower shock bolt in a pinch, though that bolt has a larger washer. 90119-A0018 for the shock bolt.
2016-2021 caliper bolts are different: 90105-A0336

Stock splash guard bolts. One of each. See the thread here:

Stock positive battery terminal. 82675-60020
These do stretch and wear out, not to mention corrosion.

More to come

Core support cover push rivets. 90467-07217
These do age and become brittle. Have a few on hand.

Fender skirt push rivets.. a couple part numbers here.
White ones: 90467-12069
Nearly impossible to get out intact.

IMG_0626.jpg

IMG_0625.JPG

Black fender skirt push rivets. 90467-10210
These get brittle, as well as jammed with sand.

I remove my second row for trips, and some of the clips that hold the seat mount trim on are sacrificial. I usually break one of the 8 when taking all the trim off.

I'll add more as I dig through my bag of spare parts but this stuff stood out to get started.

Add anything you find relevant.

90467-07217

This. I break these every time I even look at the truck.

I did pretty much the same thing with bolts and the blue washers for the oil pan. Then I Got a Fumoto valve. So I have about 5 bolts and 8 washers I'll probably never use. :(

I had an oil drain plug but realized it wasn’t the same as what came on the truck, so that will get reordered.

Great idea for a thread.

Are these the same thread/size across 80, 100 and 200 series? I have some from either my previous 80 or 100…not sure and wondering if they’d work in the 200.

Probably going a little too far with this one but I just ordered a complete set of BB skid plate hardware.
IMG_3273.jpeg

BB sells the kit for $50. It’s overkill as loosing some of these isn’t likely. The 5 mm Allen wrench bolts can get damaged by rocks and I have had some just go awol that I notice when I’m under the truck doing other things.

Yep, same thread/size. They may work in the transfer case too but as I said I’d want to make sure they aren’t too long before telling anyone they will for sure.

Thread 'Transfer case drainplug musings' Transfer case drainplug musings - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/transfer-case-drainplug-musings.278323/

If I read this thread correctly then bjowett says they will work in the transfer case. I've got some waiting on the shelf for next fluid change interval. Read it yourself though to see what he says goes where for magnet plugs.

My contribution: 77360-35040 fuel door spring, that I keep in my glovebox. Had one break on a previous car and it was a PITA to get the door open by yourself.

Knock sensor harness for a 200-series 3UR. 82219-60090
I bring this on camping trips as well. Under the intake manifold, it would take an hour to change, but is often chewed by rodents. Cheap insurance and saves me the hassle of having to splice wires under there, potentially with almost no wire left from a connector to splice to

Oil fill cap gasket. 90080-43025
These harden and let oil weep around the cap, plus once hard the cap just stops turning suddenly when tight, it doesn't tighten progressively. Dig out the old gasket with an o-ring pick and throw a new one in. Cheap.

Fender liner clips for rear of front wheel well. 90467-07214
Like many of the other plastic push clips these get brittle and fouled with dirt

IMG_0658.JPG

Seat anchor loop trim clip. 77241-60460
If you ever lift the carpet you'll need to pull the anchor trim, and these often don't let go without a fight.
