This my contribution. 16x6.5 105 steelies for my "Back to stock, not stock" 80 project.

Thinking either Yokohama M/T G003 or Mastercraft Courser CXT.

This conversion only makes sense if you want one of three OEM wheels:
6.5” 105 spoke steelies
8” 105 spoke steelies
7” 70 alloys

You have countless circle/hole/puka style steel wheel options, for the stock set up. If you want something utilitarian, use those instead of wasting money on this conversion.

Back to paint from page 2. Im about to try to get a powder to match the Rustoleum Industrial Grey today. This split rim that was under my 80 is original and the paint was preserved being under there. I got a bunch of grey paint and this one seems to be the closest.

Not exactly a steel wheel but the paint/powder match turned out nice on the Fifteen52 wheels I had coated. These things are 10# lighter each than the Smooth Vintiques for the record.

These are 4.25” BS so yeah I don’t think they would fit without them. I did not even check. My airbags hit the 4” BS wheels but those cleared the tie rod.

My contribution from the 40 side: 17x8” US Wheels ala @J Mack painted in Wimbledon White from Dupli-Color and clear coat from a 2K can. I mounted some 295/70/17 Nitto’s that I did some trading for but I will eventually step down to a 285. My idea was similar to his in that I wanted more choice and a 17” wheel provided that. I also want to road trip the 40 in a few years and I figure if things go wrong off-road and tires are blown then a 17” tire would be easier to find than a 15” or 16” in a remote area (also the fact that many Jeeps have a 285/17 standard because I can pick a set of those up cheaper). I took the easy way out mounting the OEM hubcaps with some stainless screws for now. My wheels were supposed to come already drilled/tapped for clips but they didn’t so I ended up doing it myself.

I know I need to do something with the front hubs but I wanted to get the new wheels on and patience isn’t my best quality at times.

Anyone know what specific color the FJ Company uses on most of their wheels??

As in Nolen's 2019 post #70 on this thread, FJ company is going to roll out their own wheels, (looks like they're finally coming out this month). They also use this wheel color on many of their builds. On their site it says the wheels are "Toyota Gray". They don't appear to be metallic so that rules out Magnetic Gray Metallic (1G3). And they appear darker than Cement Gray (1H5).

Anyone venture a guess on color? I really like the darker gray.

Wait, so I'm confused. 93+ 80s typically had a 5th matching wheel underneath. So your 91 FJ80 had a gray steel wheel? And it was that dark? I likey!
