Ah! Thanks!

It's there in case the safety solenoid fails and you can't get out of Park, even if the engine is running.

You can thank Audi for that solenoid now mandatory on all automatics.

There's also a fuse under the dash which controls the solenoid, so if that fuse blows you'll be stuck in park even if the solenoid is good. Ask me how I know.

TBH I thought this existed just so a tow truck operator can get the vehicle out of Park without the key.

Anyone know the part number for the coolant reservoir (not radiator) cap gasket/o-ring? 2021 model year. Apparently they can fly off. Pic below. TIA.

My latest SQOD: What is this part called? How do I fix this noise? (see photo and video)

2013 LC Driving over things like speed bumps, when the rear makes it over the hump (like when it gets over the bump and back to the ground) I'm getting this really loud "clang" sound. It happens "sometimes" (I think it's speed + bump size related)

Got under the truck today. When I hit the rear sway with my fist, I'm getting a "smaller version" of the "clang". I've traced the sound to the part in the photo.
QUESTION 1: what is that part called? (so I can search up more specifics, the rear sway connects to a bar, that connects to this 'vertical' part w/ the accordion; I think it's kdss related?)

Screenshot 2023-08-20 at 9.43.12 AM.png

If I brace the "upper part" of the part, the sound gets muffled or stops. I can't see anything obviously loose.
QUESTION 2: what is causing that clanging sound?
Video clip of the sound... New video by ryan matsumura - https://photos.app.goo.gl/GpbSoJ1cufTCu4rX6

Full context: I recently had the rear shocks replaced (old = td 45mm adj; new = ome nitro; springs are the same: td 0-300kg)

That vertical piece with the bellows/boot on it is the rear KDSS cylinder. I can't imagine the cylinder itself making any noise, but that shield bolted over/around it sure could. It's possible it got bent or shifted when the new shocks were installed I suppose. I'd look for witness marks from things moving that shouldn't be, loose bolts - particularly shock bolts/nuts after a new install - the upper nut could be loose and you might not notice it unless looking at the top of the mount because the shocks are gas charged...

What is torque spec for the PCV Valve?

What is torque spec for the PCV Valve?

Don’t overthink it. Just snug it up. It’s plastic….

And don't over-snug. That thing snaps like a pretzel with the slightest over torquing. As in, don't do the precision....get it to snug then turn a quarter more. That quarter more will break it.

My question of the day. Previously there was wide angle mirror on the driver's side mirror. It was removed but there is still a "shadow" where it was located. That part of the mirror is reflective just different. I have used glass cleaner and other cleaners to try an remove what ever residue remains. Any suggestions for cleaners or will there forever be a "shadow" until I replace the mirror?

2 questions: my rear hatch doesn’t open when pressing the button

And anyone know if covers for these can be ordered?

Did you accidentally push the button that disables the rear hatch?
I have tried both using it with the orange part visible and not

Also my auto reverse mirrors work intermittently

I can open the hatch with the key fob and the button on the dash.
The rear hatch does not open with motors when pressing the button at the rear. This is normal. It's kinda stupid but working as designed. It will close with the press of the button on the bottom of the hatch though (if it is working normally). To not have to physically lift the rear hatch, you have to either use the fob or the dash button.

@Nothinghead thank you for confirming. this is very confusing and probably the only SUV with power gate like this

Gotta Love Lexus. Glad to know my 200 is functioning as designed.

half the time i can not open the hatch using the exterior button, but can do it from the front dash and from the key fob.

i have figured out that about half the time, after i leave the car it kind of assumes i had locked the car and refuses to open the hatch unless i push the unlock button first. THEN the exterior button on the hatch will work to open it. Otherwise i get a beep beep and nothing happens

My new to me 2016 does not have the toolkit in the tailgate. Am I correct that means I am missing just the lug wrench and the extensions/handle to lower the spare tire?

Anybody have an extra laying around, or a pointer to a good used parts yard? Nothing on Ebay this morning.

The kit also has pliers, convertible screwdriver, a few hand wrenches including a spark plug adapter, hub cover pry bar.. it comes in handy. If you find a kit with any parts missing from their spot let me know and I can look them up. The full extension set for the jack and tire hoist is five parts including the handle. Only three needed to get the spare down but having them all helps a lot manipulating the jack under the rear axle.

TBH I thought this existed just so a tow truck operator can get the vehicle out of Park without the key.

Pretty much. And not all vehicles have them. I’ve had to tear apart the interior of a number of modern vehicles to get them into neutral after collisions. The cover being removable with only the key blade is a Toyota-like detail.

I believe it’s 71629-60390-A1
If you pop the one off the other side and get me the similar number off it I can confirm.
