...This Is Getting Bigger Than I Anticipated!

I added a list of who is currently going and who is a "maybe" to the original post. There will probably be a few more people that are not on 'MUD that will also show up... If your name is not up there let me know in a comment.

For anyone just jumping into this thread, just go ahead and leave a comment if you want me to add you to the list. :)

You guys wouldn't mind a newbie on this trip would yah?

Great! Count me in man!

Not at all there are trails and things to do for anyone plus a lot of easy trails to drive

And world-class mountain biking for anyone from a little kid to a full-face helmet downhiller.

If we all booked sites now we could easily get into Packsaddle campground where there's a pit toilet and a great spring. We probably would need one site for two rigs, or maybe three.

This little double track leads to a decent unimproved campsite that could fit us all, but it could also be full of nayer-do-wells when we show up there. I'm not sure how it would go over to try to get there early and reserve it.

We could get a few sites in Packsaddle and use this for overflow.

There are a ton of better places off the road, on the west side of the hill, out in the trails. It just depends on how primitive or civilized people want to get when camping. I'm ok anywhere, but my wife won't come if there's no toilet. I'm ok with that too.

What's the Gold Lake OHV campground like? I try to avoid improved campgrounds like the plague. I don't know about you guys but I hate dealing with fees, reservations, excessive rules, and a$$hole park rangers. It's the main reason I like going to remote areas :)

I can camp anywhere, don't need all the first world luxuries.

The Gold Lake 4x4 campsite is pretty awesome. All sites are right on the water. Pit toilets with no roofs and some sites have picnic tables. That's it. Everyone there is driving some kinda cool 4x4 too.

I'll go with the groupthink on campsite. It's nice to have access to potable water. But all I really need is a place to set up. I'll defer to the locals on this one.

Anybody bringing their Mountain bikes? Would like to check out the trails if anyone will be riding nothing too serious my knees are not ready for it just yet, bought the bike over a year ago but never hit the trails just rode it around town near my house.

Nah, I probably won't go, I just like planning everything. :p (sarcasm)

I'll have my mountain bike, just got it last week after being out of the sport for 2 years due to becoming a member on this site....

That's an all mountain? I ride a hard tail. :grinpimp:

x2. If someone has a canoe you can literally sit in the canoe and drink beer and chat with someone at the picnic table drinking a beer.

I've got a Titus FS and a Jericho rigid singlespeed. Titus would be the call for this trip, but I mostly ride the rigid. They are just two of the stable: steel/carbon roadie, steel fixed gear commuter, '91 steel stumpjumper, others...

I've been riding in Downieville for 15+ years. There are a bunch of new trails in the Lakes Basin area just in the last couple years.

I would prefer to point downhill too!! Anyone have a fs I could use? 250 lbs, 6'1" short legs, shimano clipless shoes or plain shoes.
It will be super easy to run a shuttle rig down to bottom then back to top and rally away all day one day.... :D
