Calling @ J Mack
I got nothing ..

Looking at the exploded view Lifelong40Fan posted of the Harrop shoving the ol pipe through trick isn’t going to work, with that said I wouldn’t be scared to shove a pipe in there and hit it with all of my biggest hammers like wngrog said and see if something shakes loose.

maybe a 5/16 rod will work.
Maybe if all else fails dissemble as far as you can and use a pulling grip to slip over the remaining axle to help pull it out. Online or any electric supply should have these.

Thin wall tubing approximate diameter [or larger] of axle. Fashion the end in a manor to squeeze over the axle in a griping fashion. I

Just throwing $%^& against the wall!!!

I don't have Rush's magnification skills on the photos, but it looks like the axle shaft is right there inside the housing. Clean everything up and weld something onto the end and just try to pull it out.

Yeah, that's been my first choice, if I can't just grab it with a pliers. I'm not sure if you can weld chromoly well enough to hold anything, I'll have to it up. I need to get going on it and tear it apart, might just slip right out.

Quick update (with pictures, Bob!) Tore apart all the brake and backing plate stuff and the axle pulled right out. There is a ton of carnage, so everything will need to be replaced. Good news the axle housing is fine. I haven't taken apart the wheel and rotor to get the short end of axle out, yet. Jeri's making homemade Lasagna tonight, so I can't be late.

We talked about the inner splines at the diff. and they seem fine with plenty of contact.
