Nice job! Looks good and beefy. What brand of shocks are those? Something I still need to do.

Pictures at the rally, if you go.

I will definitely post pictures of the rally. The shocks are the four wheel parts brand "Pro Comp" with the remote reservoir. I just didn't put on the stickers. I don't do stickers. Why advertise? They are actually very good shocks. They are stiff so I get very little body roll. Even for a sprung over FJ55. But they give it a nice ride. I had rears to go along with the fronts but I destroyed them and now I have Ranchos that do the job but not as good as the Pro Comps.

Loved seeing your Pig in person at the Rally today!

Thanks, I was trying to get to talk to you, but I could not track you down. I was excited to see your FJ55! Very nice! Here we all are at the rally. All six of us!

I started to refurbish my doors. I did the tailgate a while back. Cleaned it out inside, painted the inside with POR15 and put the Cruiser Crap sound deadening stuff on. I like it a lot. Before the tailgate made a "clang" when I shut it. Now it makes a "thud". Now I have disassembled the left rear door. Took the window regulator and latch out. Cleaned 40+ years of muck off of them, lubed them up and they work great. I have ordered the window run rubber and the door rubber from Slocruiser. In the meantime I will be cleaning up the inside of the door and painting it before applying the sound deadening.
Also, on a side note, I ordered a high performance 2F from Redline Land Cruisers. It kills me to let someone else build a motor for me, but I can no longer get Toyota parts for my f1.5.

I have actually never had that problem. I am very happy with the factory stuff, considering it is over 40 years old and still works great. I am also replacing the door hinge bushings while I am at it.

Getting ready to put in the high performance 2f when it gets back from the machine shop. I put in a different radiator to hopefully help keep it cooler than the fjz80 radiator I was using. I am still waiting on the electric fan I ordered to show up however. I cut out the corners of the radiator support and welded 1 inch angle iron in place to move the radiator forward about an inch. I don't know about you guys, but I sure don't have much room between the radiator and the water pump pulley. This gives me just over 3 inches for an electric fan and shroud. If it does not fit then I guess I will have to go back to a belt driven fan and shroud. Here is the pictures.

I am sticking with the 2f after much deliberation. I though of the 1fz, 1uz, and 2uz. Maybe I will do a different engine later, but for now the 2f will be an easy choice.
Also, I was informed that a picture of my truck is being used on the website of the tint installer I used years ago. Kind of weird to see it along with lots of exotic cars, muscle cars, and sports cars. Just doesn't fit in with all that, but they are proud of their work and they did an outstanding job.

Very cool!

Will you detail the performance touches you added to the 2F? Any head work?

And you will keep the 3FE head and FI set-up?

I run my '74 FJ55 radiator in front of the 3FE fan w/ no heat probs, but I am not pushing big rubber like you are. I can't remember if you are running AC in yours?

Great choice! What year 2F? You have to go w/ flat-top pistons to run the 3FE head, eh?

The tint shop clearly chose the most bad-a$$ vehicle available to them for photos...

I am definitely keeping the fuel injection but I don't run the 3f head. I will be running the 2f head. I already tig'd adapter plates to the efi manifold years ago and will keep that set up. The 2f is from a 76. Domed pistons, 3 angle valve grind and new valve seats. Heavier springs due to the cam. It will all be balanced and the compression will be 9.6:1.
The radiator that I was running was from a 1996 fzj80. I liked it but it was very close to the water pump pulley. I could only run one puller fan and one pusher fan. No shroud. It was fine until I would use compound low for an extended time in hot weather. I am hoping this new set up will be adequate or I may end up returning to a belt driven fan. We will see. Also no a/c at this time. Maybe in the future.

Thanks, I forgot the detail of how you modified the intake manifold - very cool by the way!

Domed pistons are pretty much unobtanium these days (at least from what I read) so that is cool that they can still do rebuilds of the early 2Fs. From what I hear, balancing those early 2Fs makes a big difference.

Yes, from what Justin at Redline said, those pistons are about gone. As is the RV cams. He has had some issues finding parts. I think mine should be done soon so I can get this switched. I will be keeping my original engine also. Maybe someday I will do something with it.

Since I am still waiting on the engine to show up, I got the rebuild on the left rear door done. All new rubber except for the fixed window, rebuilt and relubed the latch mechanism and window regulator, por 15'ed the inside of the door and added sound deadening material. The door works amazingly well now. Like a new car. Really. when you open and close any other door, it has the typical Land Cruiser Ka-thud with the resonating metal clanking. That door closes with a muffled thud and latched very gently. I know that it has never been apart before and now is good as new. The door panel is also looking pretty good for a 41 year old utilitarian vehicle. I look forward to repeating the process on the remaining doors.

Still no engine delivered yet. I noticed the other day that my front drive shaft's lower u-joint had a bit of play in it. Not real good since I only have just a few years and not that many wheeling trips on it. It is a "creeper joint" from Trail Gear. Suppose to be this fantastic heavy duty thing that will last forever. Guess I was wrong or maybe I just got a bum one. Either way, the new one is in and we will try it again.
