just to add 2 cents....I ordered autometer 2268 and 2269...and after duties and shipping were paid..they were over $50! needless to say, cancelled...

I took my old temp sender, the M16 X 1.5 and drilled it out, tapped it to 1/8 NPT, so it fit the new autometer sender...I took the stock oil p sender, cut it off, and tapped it to 1/8 npt....

30 minutes, two adapters....

are you talking about something like this?

I just took the nut off a carb and it screwed right on. This was on an early 55 tank but I believe it is the same fitting.

Nuts and ferrules are still available from Toyota.

That is what we mean, yes they are available from Toyota or from old fuel lines...

BUT he said he got a 1/4-19 nut that fit. I tried to thread a OEM Toyota nut onto a 1/4-19 female fitting I ordered and it did NOT fit.

FWIW I believe these nuts are 13mm x 1.5 which I cannot locate anywhere (except Toyota ;)).

Did you actually try the 1/4-19 fitting on the gas tank? I ordered a 1/4-19 male to 1/4 NPT (to adapt the marine fuel filter I bought to the OEM soft lines) and they did not fit at all. After much research I came to the conclusion that the OEM gas tank and hard line fittings are in fact 13mm x 1.5. Talk about unobtainium! If you got that to work please let us know!

Bump for answer to the last question: Did it fit the tank?

I just saw I never answered this - Sorry Coolerman!

I used 1/4" BSPP (or Whitworth thread) to -6 AN. Part 9009-06-04 from discounthydraulic above to go to AN fittings.

and I just read this! Posting to bump this up to the top again as it came up in another thread. Thank you! I just ordered a couple of those to play with.
Where did you purchase the fuel lines with the AN fittings?

Yep. Put the link in that thread.

I got the AN fittings at Summit Racing on line. We have a store south of ATL so shipping is quick.

That was some good tech.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that about the fuel fittings. I'm getting ready to reinstall a 75 carb onto my 2F, and was looking for the proper thread connector for the fuel supply and banjo return--Please post when you get any info on this.

Banjo fittings are very common on ricers. I am using an AN banjo fitting on my 3f conversion. Summit carries them.

for 35 years i just used npt thread and screwed the toyota sensors into chevy motors and npt into toyota motors never had a problem ,didnt know the difference until i joined this site .not that anything is gonna change who knows i might even figure out what spell check is

So I was able to get exactly what I wanted after going to two different Parker Hose shops.

Here's the short story... I brought my original fittings in hoping to go to steel braided lines and the guy said smugly "we dont have any fittings like that" when I showed him which end attaches to the block. I told him I was looking to have a more permanent connection instead of attaching to the original fitting setup. He grabbed the cheapest hose he could find, took my fittings, crimp fastened them, and then charged me $30 bucks ($20 for 5 min of labor).

I left but felt like there had to be a better solution. As I was headed from my home in Sacramento to San Francisco yesterday, I remembered there was another Parker store on the way. So I stopped in and a dude who appeared somewhat new spent 5 minutes talking about what I was trying to accomplish while going through the old parts I provided. He immediately looked at the original fitting that connected to the block and said "this is 1/8 BSPT". He grabbed a new fitting 1/8 BSPT to JIS fitting. This would allow me to easy convert to a traditional thread. He also provided 10mm banjos as well for the other end. He cut some lines, connected everything together and double checked everything. This guy took great pride in his work and I thanked him like 5 times. I could tell he was proud of himself as he should have been.

Here is a link to the fittings....

In this picture you will see the black hoses the grumpy dude gave me, and then also the newer setup the helpful dude gave me. He even gave me a discount because of the service I received from the original shop.

I went with steel braided because I am running headers btw.

I attached my last message to the wrong thread. Still applicable to this one so I wont delete it.

1/8-28 Bspt

Oil sending unit is 1/8 -28 BSPT(British Standard Pipe Tapered).
(On F engines the tapped holes where the oil lines go into the regulator housing and the block are also 1/8-28 BSPT)

I have researched this a bit and thought some folks might find the following information useful for future reference.

There are 3 features that are different between a 1/8 BSPT thread and a 1/8 NPT thread.

BSPT has a 55 degree included angle thread, compared to 60 degrees for NPT, rounded crest and root radius and a different number of threads per inch.

AUTO METER part # 2269 is a 1/8" NPT Female to 1/8" BSPT Male adapter and will allow the use of 1/8-27 NPT sending units.

If you need to make a hole for this thread the Tap drill for this is a 8.4mm or a 21/64.

1/8-28 BSPT Taps are available from the following places: Be warned! They are not cheap...

Hope this helps someone else!
McMaster Carr has the BSPT threaded connectors also--
