This keeps getting mentioned so I will reiterate it. The big important thing for '85 and older 60 owners to keep in mind: pretty much any aftermarket or junkyard seat will sit 1 or 2 inches higher than stock, unless you chop up your floor. This height difference works for some people but will be a problem for others.

For me it's a trade off. I put bmw e30 seats into an '85 (10/84) FJ60 with some homemade adapters. They are very comfortable but sit tall.

BMW Seats into an 85 FJ60

@cruisermatt
I really am loving your seat mounts, could you give some details?

Sure. The rear mount is a length of 1.25” tubing welded to both seat sliders, then some folded-plate feet welded to it.
The front outside mount is essentially a spacer welded between the original foot and rail. Doesn’t have to be anything fancy.
The front inside mounting point on a 60/62 is taller so this needs to be done to accommodate.

I believe my seats are in the year range of something like 2000-2006, I’ve heard the earlier ones are a bit easier to mount. Don’t know how true it is, just something I’ve heard or think I read.

I installed a pair of seats out of a 2000s Honda 2 door sporty car. The brackets worked with a little modification (into my '85 FJ60). It's very comfy. Because it has bolsters (helpful off road), I have to duck my head to get into and out of the truck. But I'm solid 6' tall and I've got plenty of room while seated. I'll share pictures if anyone wishes.

@madvr6 yes I’m happy to get measurements and pics for you tomorrow. To be clear, what do you want me to measure? Seat bottom to floor, seat back to steering wheel, seat back to back seat, etc? If you look, the bolster on the seat bottom is a little tall, I have to jump up a bit to get in the truck. I’m at stock height with 33x10.50 BFGs. I find them perfectly comfortable as far as height and support, but I’m just an average guy at 5’8” 180lbs. Someone over 6’ I could see being a bit cozy.

Dropped in some seats out of a Dodge Neon 5-6 years ago. There was a thread about'm on mud . Easy install and very comfortable.
Sorry don't remember the year model got the set for $100 bucks at a junk yard.

around 2003-2004 Landrover seats fit well in my cruiser. Toyota Highlander seats fit (I have one in my passenger front at the moment).

Edited year after dpr64's comment.

Possibly the seat height at the very front of the seat with it pushed all the way back. Thanks.

I'll put a sketch together for the front page highlighting useful dimensions concerning potential seats. That way when someone does an install we can get some good data to go on for fit or whether someone like me needs to pound a dent in the roof to fit due to tall seats :)

My rental car for this week is a Buick Encore....it has nice leather heated power seats that are remarkably comfortable, have armrests, and no side bolsters. Not sure how the height works out but seems like a nice option for a cruiser.

as for the Buick Encore...its a rental...it goes from A to B. Not planning to buy one any time soon 🤣

Where are the controls for the Buick seats? I saw some very nice seats in Lincoln, Problem is that all controls run through the center screen. Wiring up 30 way seats straight up would give you a switch panel that looks like something out of a Boeing 747. It can be done in various ways, even with newer screen panel controllers, but surely labor intensive.

I will grab a photo before I turn it back into Hertz....but the controls (on drivers seat) are on the left hand side where most seat based controls are. The seat recline was still a manual handle but the forward/back/tilt/height/lumbar were all on the base and were electric. The heat is a switch on the dash...but even my 20 year old Saab electric heat is controlled from a switch on the dash.

Pushed all the way back It measures about 11” from the floor right in front of it. I measure about 20” from the clutch pedal to the closest part of the seat bottom.
Excuse the mess. New carpet is on the list and for that reason I don’t feel like vacuuming the current one...
