Still in analysis paralysis. Not sure yet but leaning towards a west coast style build.

Still in Loveland/Johnstown.
Maybe we can meet up sometime.

If we get one, I will go Bump It Offroad for sliders.

After receiving a quote for $500 for a BMC I will probably do all further mods myself, besides maybe lockers or something of that nature.

Sure thing. Not a lot open by us right now, beyond snow wheeling, which has its own inherent risks, especially without dedicated snow tires. I have a bunch of drives around us on my Youtube Channel.

Just chiming in as I graduated and pick up a great deal I couldn't pass up.
2022 gx460 premium plus 54000 miles.
Good day to play?

After a long drive home I was so impressed with everything. Lighted running boards, nice hot heat, wife has her ohhhh s***t handle and can reach the a pillar one too, very quiet inside, auto leveling headlights (didnt know about these) big +, old v8 feels so good, easy visibility in traffic, 1300+ lbs pay load, stereo is very impressive and clarity is a word I like, soft closing power windows (wow), I'll stop here!
I can't, I hit an twisty road up a good grade and was like a little kit in a go cart! Dsst is remarkable!!! Wife grabbed her OS handle and was laughing too and for just a minute we were 20 yrs old again.............
Have to get used to the heavy steering and on heavy chambered road I have to add some counter steer to itn not sure if that's normal or a tire issue. I did have the dealer do an alignment and seeing the numbers before and after it need done. Thanks to this forum for schooling me!!!
Class dismissed

I have had some serious oh 💩 moments, getting over confident with my gx. All my fault.

Are the '22 & '23 that much better than '14 through '21?
For me I'd just want the new infotainment with carplay and green combination. The green wasn't available for all years.

I am running airbags in the rear. I put a touch over 25 psi in both bags and she behaves pretty well.
The GX looks a little shorter than the LX (wheelbase), so that seems like a step closer to the tail wagging the dog.
Amirite that these have factory airbags in the rear? Are there any problems w/ leaks?
My 470 did, but they started leaking so I did a coil conversion when I lifted it. The bags were 14 years old at that point. I honestly like the coils more for most activities. Obviously, there is more trailer squat with the OEM bags used, unless the WDH is hooked up.

I've been towing the heavier enclosed and flatbed rental trailers quite a bit recently - picking up building materials - without WDH and without sway control. These have been up to around 5K loaded weight (albeit they are tandem axle) and, outside of the back end being a bit soft and squatty, the rig still seems to handle them fine. I had the 7x17 enclosed trailer again on Friday in some pretty windy conditions, including on the interstate, and it didn't wag me at all. It's quite a bit bigger/less aero than the TrailManor as well.

So, if the WDH can be dropped in lieu of bags, it would save quite a bit of time in setup/teardown at the campsite.
The tailgate glass swings open when the TrailManor is docked, yes?
I can fully open the LX tailgate when I am pulling. That is handy.
I forgot the 460 has the pop glass! That would be quite a bit nicer. We store our wheel chocks and stabilizer jack blocks in the back of the rig, so they are a bit of a pain to get to without the pop glass. I think I can move the tongue jack forward almost a foot to fix that issue, however.

If my 470 was totaled tomorrow I'd start the search for a 22-23 while figuring out how to pay for it. Best tech of their longest-running SUV in the American market. And probably a decade before you might have to worry about the valley plate leak.
I was just looking at 22-23s for fun, and they look to be running about $10k more than I paid for mine for equivalent age/mileage in 2021. Bit of a bummer.

That sounds good.
Do you have a link?
I have hear that there is a Tesla head unit upgrade? No idea how that would work - those tablets are yuge!

They also have one for the earlier years (which, clearly, I used on mine)

I'm a reasonably new owner (6 mo) of a 2020; the heavy feel and the trolleying in pavement depressions definitely took some getting used to. It feels better with some drive time, and once I got new tires it really kind of became a non-issue, and I don't even notice it now. A lot of the newer used GXson lots are just about at the end of their OEM tire life, mine was at 29,000 miles and still on OEMs when I got it. Not sure if yours has newer tires or still OEMs at 54,000 miles?

It's hard to say for certain, but reasonable to assume the 22-23 GXs will maintain a higher resale value above and beyond just being newer. There were only about 60k of them sold, compared to ~210k of the 14-21s. So they're not rare like LXs are, but at the same time finding a 22-23 GX for sale in good shape five years from now will probably be a challenge.

Bulk of the 22s will start going off-lease this year, so the next two years and change is basically your best window to buy one that hasn't been messed with.

Probably depends on where you are located. Here in MO, the GX is just used for it's intended purpose (country club, fine dining, and luxury shopping hauler) and very few of them are built up as 4x4 rigs. However, they are quite popular in the upper class crowd, so I'm not seeing any problems getting a good used one 2022-2023. Deals on the 2020-2021 models can also be found pretty easily. A friend of mine picked up a practically mint Atomic Silver 2020 for under $40K. It's not Nori Green, but is pretty darn nice.

EDIT: Looking online, there are several dozen 2022-2023s for sale in my area, but most are $48-50K plus. Considering these rigs MSRP'd around $57-72K, they have depreciated some, but not as much. A 2021 or older with an upgraded head unit would be a much better buy at $40K and even as low as $30K, especially if you were going to build it.

Laughably, the lightly-used 460s are still half the price of the new and used GX550s that popped up in the search. They seem to average amount $88K and one was listed over $100K. Think I'd rather have a $45K GX460, spend $15K building it, and then still have $28K for a nice used sports or commuter car.

Wow that is just too high $$ for those GX550's. Like you is much rather spend less than half of that and build one up.

Toyota/Dealers are fishing for suckers, and probably catching some. Much like Ford did with the Bronco :). They will eventually come down once the early adopters get theirs.

A GX550/LX600/LX700h could very well be in my future, just not for quite a long time. I love my 470 far too much and am not yet done modding it.

That's fair. Now you know me, I'll only get one or these new GX/LX models if they have a PHEV system. Will never buy a (modern) twin turbo V6 setup.

A 550 is in my future (non-hybrid for sure), but as a replacement for my wife's car, not my 460. I'm going to hold on to the V8 as long as possible.

And for the same platform in a 5th Gen 4R as the GX (san V8, leather, etc...) you'll probably pay even more! And it will probably have been off roaded.
Nice thing about the GX's, as you mentioned, most folks buy them as upscale mall cruisers, so it's easy find them in pristine condition. Just watch out for sticky seats, crumbs between the cushions and toy trinkets.
